METRO is a core transit network operated by Metro Transit that consists of light rail and bus rapid transit lines serving Minneapolis and St. Paul.

Train and bus service
The light rail system consists of two lines:
- Blue Line - Target Field - Mall of America
- Green Line - Target Field - St. Paul Union Depot
The system also consists of a bus rapid transit line:
- Red Line - Mall of America - Apple Valley

How to take METRO
Light rail
For Blue and Green line light rail, before boarding the trains, buy your train ticket from a ticket machine, pay fare with Go-To Card (by tapping on a reader at the station before boarding), or use the Metro Transit mobile payment app. METRO light rail lines use the proof of payment system and passengers caught without a valid ticket or pass are subject to eviction and/or citation.
The doors are not opened automatically when the train is stopped at the station. Riders need to press the blue button by the train door to open it.

Bicycle access (light rail)
Bicyclists board through the two center doors of each car in the train. There are two upright bike racks inside each car.
Disabled access (light rail)
METRO is accessible to people with disabilities at all stations with level boarding at all doors.
To board the high floor trains, riders in wheelchair or other mobility device should wait on the access ramp by the forward end of the platform.
