Big Blue Bus 3-17-2019

Service Improvements Begin March 17, 2019!

We're making adjustments to many routes and schedules, and reinvesting those resources to add and expand service where customers need it most.

Take a look at the changes going into effect March 17 below. And if you want to find out about future service changes, be sure to sign up for email updates.

Route 1 Main St & Santa Monica Blvd

Schedule Changes:

• Weekday:
  • Service improved to every 20 minutes after 9pm.
  • Significant schedule adjustments to help keep buses on time.
• Weekend:
  • Saturday:
    • Eastbound trip at 5:52am discontinued.
    • Service adjusted to every 12 minutes between 1pm and 5pm, and every 20 minutes after 7pm.
  • Sunday:
    • Westbound trip at 6:40am discontinued.
    • Service adjusted to every 20 minutes after 6pm.

New Stop!

• WB Broadway at 5^th St.

Route 2 Wilshire Blvd

Schedule Changes:

• Weekday service improved to every 12-15 minutes most of the day, then every 20 minutes after 5:30pm.
• Sunday:
  • Eastbound trips at 7:50am and 10:10pm discontinued
  • Westbound trips at 7:24am and 7:54am discontinued.

Route 3 Lincoln Blvd

Schedule Changes:

• Weekday service improved to every 12-15 minutes during the day, and every 20 minutes after 8pm.
• Weekend service adjusted to every 30 minutes between 5am and 7am, then every 15 minutes during the day, and every 20 minutes after 8pm.

Discontinued Stop:

• WB 96^th St. & Alverstone Ave.

Rapid 3 Lincoln Blvd Rapid

Route and Schedule Changes:

• Weekday:
  • Morning schedule adjustments to better match customer demand.
  • Northbound trips between 7am and 9am travel via Sepulveda Blvd. and Manchester Ave., to help keep buses on time.
  • Midday' (9am-2pm) and evening'service (after 6pm) discontinued; use Route 3 instead.
• Weekend service discontinued; use Route 3 instead.

New Stop!

• WB Manchester Ave. at Sepulveda Blvd.

Route 5 Olympic Blvd

Route and Schedule Changes:

• Weekday:
  • Eastbound:
    • Trips travel via 7^th St. in Downtown Santa Monica, and no longer use 5^th St.
    • Trips at 6:20am, 6:40am, 7am, 7:20pm, and 7:50pm discontinued.
  • Westbound trips at 6:55pm and 7:25pm discontinued.
• Weekend service discontinued.

New Stops!

• EB Santa Monica Blvd. at 6^th St.
• EB Olympic Blvd. at Barrington Ave. (after the intersection)

Discontinued Stops:

• SB 5^th St. at Colorado Ave.
• EB Olympic Blvd. at Barrington Ave. (before the intersection)

Route 7 Pico Blvd

Route and Schedule Changes:

• Route extended to serve Wilshire/Western Purple Line Station on all days.
• Weekday:
  • Most service improved to every 14 minutes or better, and every 20 minutes after 10pm.
  • Eastbound trips at 2:08pm and 4:05pm no longer serve Beverlywood.
  • Eastbound trips drop-off on Pico Blvd. at San Vicente Blvd. and do not enter Rimpau Terminal.
• Weekend:
  • Most service improved to every 15 minutes or better, and every 20 minutes after 7pm.

• EB Pico Blvd. at San Vicente Blvd. (after the intersection)
• NB Crenshaw Blvd. at Pico Blvd.
• NB Crenshaw Blvd. at Olympic Blvd.

Rapid 7 Pico Blvd Rapid

Route and Schedule Changes:

• Weekday:
  • Service adjusted to every 14 minutes most of the day, and every 20 minutes after 6pm.
  • Eastbound:
    • Trips to Wilshire/Western Station Purple Line travel via Wilshire Blvd., and no longer use 6^th St.
    • Service discontinued after 7:30pm; use Route 7 instead.
  • Westbound service discontinued after 6pm; use Route 7 instead.
• Weekend service discontinued; use Route 7 instead, which has been extended to serve Wilshire/Western Purple Line Station on all days.

New Stops!

• EB Wilshire Blvd. at Western Ave.
• WB Wilshire Blvd. at Western Ave.

Discontinued Stops:

• EB 6^th St. at Western Ave.
• SB Oxford Ave. at Wilshire Blvd.

Route 8 Ocean Park Blvd

Route and Schedule Changes:

• Westbound trips travel via 7^th St. in Downtown Santa Monica on all days, and no longer use 5^th St.
• Weekday service improved to every 12 minutes between 7am and 9am.
• Sunday:
• ** Eastbound trip at 10:45pm discontinued.
  • Westbound trips at 9:35pm, 10:35pm, and 11:35pm discontinued.

New Stop!

• EB Santa Monica Blvd. at 6^th St.

• NB 5^th St. at Colorado Ave.
• SB 5^th St. at Colorado Ave.

Route 9 Pacific Palisades

Schedule Changes:

• Weekday:
• ** Service improved to every 15 minutes during peak morning and afternoon hours.
  • New express trips serve Palisades Charter High School and Sunset Blvd., via Broadway, Ocean Blvd., Pacific Coast Highway, and Temescal Canyon Rd.
  • *** Northbound trip departs 4^th St. at Colorado Ave. at 7:13am.
    • Southbound trip departs Sunset Blvd. and El Medio Ave. at 2:23pm.
• Weekend service improved to every 30 minutes all day.

Fare Changes:

• Regular and S/D/M upgrade fee discontinued:
  • Regular customers now pay $1.25 with cash, or $1.10 with TAP Stored Value.
  • S/D/M customers now pay $0.50 with cash or TAP Stored Value.
• Regular and S/D/M 30-Day Express Pass discontinued.
  • ALL Local BBB passes are now accepted, as well as BruinGO! Co-pay customers with UCLA ID.

Schedule Changes:

• Weekday eastbound trips to Downtown Los Angeles operate every 30 minutes between 6am and 8:30am; all other trips discontinued.
• Weekday westbound trips to Downtown Santa Monica operate every 30 minutes between 3:30pm and 6pm; all other trips discontinued.

Rapid 12 UCLA/Westwood to Expo Rapid

Minor Schedule Changes:

• Minor schedule adjustments on all days for more frequent service.

Route 14 Bundy Dr & Centinela Ave

Schedule Changes:

• Weekday service improved to every 15 minutes during peak morning and afternoon hours, then every 20 minutes midday and after 6pm.

Discontinued Stop:

• WB Gorham Ave. at San Vicente Blvd.

Route 15 Barrington Ave

Schedule Changes:

• Weekday:
  • Schedule adjustments for more frequent service.
  • Northbound trip at 7:25pm discontinued.
  • Southbound trip at 7:20pm discontinued.
• Weekend service discontinued.

Route 16 Wilshire Blvd/Bundy Dr - Marina Del Rey

Schedule Changes:

• Weekday:
• ** Schedule adjustments for more frequent service during peak morning and afternoon hours.
  • Northbound trips at 6:45pm, and 7:20pm discontinued.
  • Southbound trips at 6:13am, 6:53am, 6:35pm, 7:05pm, and 7:35pm discontinued.

Route 17 UCLA-VA Medical Center-Palms

Minor Route and Schedule Changes:

• Buses serve UCLA Charles E. Young/P2 Hub on all days.
• Weekday:
  • Service improved to every 20 minutes during the day, then every 30 minutes after 7pm.
  • Northbound trips at 7:40pm and 8:10pm discontinued.
• Weekend service extended to serve UCLA and improved to every 28-30 minutes all day.

New Stop!

• WB National Blvd. at Palms Blvd. (Palms Station)

Discontinued Stop:

• WB Palms Blvd. at National Blvd. (Palms Station)

Route 18 UCLA - Abbot Kinney - Marina del Rey

Route and Schedule Changes:

• Buses serve UCLA Gateway Plaza via Gayley Ave. on all days, and no longer serve Westwood Blvd., Hilgard Terminal, or Charles E. Young Drive.
• Weekday:
  • Eastbound trips at 8:39pm and 9:09pm discontinued
  • Westbound trips at 5:45am and 10:14pm discontinued.
• Saturday:
  • Eastbound trips at 8:34pm and 9:04pm discontinued.
  • Westbound trips at 6:56am, 8:36pm, and 9:16pm discontinued.
• Sunday:
  • Eastbound trips at 7:31pm and 8:01pm discontinued.
  • Westbound trips at 7:36pm and 8:06pm discontinued.
  • Service extended to UCLA on all trips.
