Capital Metro 1-7-2018

On January 7, we're putting in place several changes, mostly involving the MetroExpress and MetroRail Commuter services. Those changes are described below. But, to make a long story short, it's going to be way better:

  • MetroRail will add 3 more trips in the morning and another 3 in the evening.
  • MetroExpress will have 50 percent more service.

The other changes include the addition of morning trips to Route 7, in direct response to the popularity of the route and to relieve overcrowding, and the discontinuation of Premium Passes. Cap Metro eliminated the Premium fare category in January 2017, but some of those passes were still in circulation, so riders have been able to use them. That won't be the case anymore. In addition, schedules for Routes 214, 243, 464, 465 and 466 — all of which service the train stations — will adjust with the new MetroRail schedules.

MetroRail

The paired trips are as follows:

From Leander Station in the Morning

  • 6:51 a.m. and 6:56 a.m.
  • 7:27 a.m. and 7:32 a.m
  • 8:03 a.m. and 8:08 a.m.

From Downtown Station in the Evening

  • 4:17 p.m. and 4:22 p.m.
  • 4:53 p.m. and 4:58 p.m.
  • 5:29 p.m. and 5:34 p.m.

MetroExpress

Free access to MoPac's managed lanes will allow Capital Metro to offer increased service on our MetroExpress Commuter routes - 50 percent more service, as a matter of fact.

We will increase service on four routes:

Direct to Downtown

New Route 981 Oak Knoll Express will operate in the MoPac managed lanes and serve the Pavilion and Great Hills Park & Rides before heading directly to downtown.

Route 985 Leander/Lakeline Direct will add trips so that it operates all day. It will also use the managed lanes and serve Leander and Lakeline Stations before heading directly to downtown.

Direct to 38th Street Medical District

Route 982 Pavilion Express will add trips so that it operates all day and serve the Pavilion and Great Hills Park & Rides before heading directly to the 38th Street medical area.

Route 987: Leander/Lakeline Express will operate in the managed lanes for certain trips at the discretion of the operator. It will serve Leander and Lakeline Stations before heading directly to the 38th Street medical area.
