Big changes are coming to transit service starting Oct. 2.
There will be connections to three new Link light rail stations. We’re also restoring many suspended routes and updating service across King County.

Restored Routes
Metro will restore the following routes that have been fully suspended: 9, 15X, 17X, 18X, 22, 29, 113, 114, 121, 167, 177, 190, 214, 216, 217, 232, 237, 246, 249, 268, 342, 630, 891, 892, 893, 894, 895, 981, 982, 984, 986, 987, 988, 989, 992 and 994.
Suspended Routes
The following routes will remain fully suspended as of Fall 2021: 19, 37, 47, 116, 118X, 119X, 122, 123, 143, 154, 157, 178, 179, 197, 200, 219, 252 and 931.

Route 2
Several trips will be deleted due to decreased STBD funding.
Routes 3, 4
Several trips will be deleted due to decreased STBD funding.
Route 5
Several trips will be deleted due to decreased STBD funding.
Route 5X
Route 5X will be permanently deleted, alternative service will be provided by new Route 16X.
Route 10
Several trips will be deleted due to decreased STBD funding.
Route 11
Several trips will be deleted due to decreased STBD funding.
Route 12
Several trips will be deleted due to decreased STBD funding.
Route 13
Several trips will be deleted due to decreased STBD funding.
Route 16X
New Route 16X will provide peak-only service on weekdays between Broadview and downtown Seattle, including Greenwood. This route replaces route 5X.
Route 20
New Route 20 will provide service between the U District and Lake City, including Green Lake, North Seattle College, and the new Northgate Station.
Route 21
Several trips will be deleted due to decreased STBD funding.
Route 24
Several trips will be deleted due to decreased STBD funding.
Routes 26X
Route 26X will be permanently deleted.
Between Green Lake and Downtown Seattle, Route 26X is replaced by:
- Route 62 - providing frequent all-day service between Green Lake, Wallingford, Fremont, SLU, and downtown Seattle
- New Route 20 - operating between Lake City, Northgate Station, Green Lake, Meridian, U District Station, and UW Medical Center, will provide new frequent, all-day service between Meridian and the U District Station.
- The 1 Line (Link) - operating between Northgate and Angle Lake, will provide frequent, all-day service between Roosevelt Station and Downtown Seattle.
- Revised Route 64X - operating between Lake City, Wedgewood, Ravenna, Roosevelt Station, Green Lake Park and Ride, South Lake Union, and Denny Triangle, will provide one-way, peak-only service via the I-5 express lanes.
Between Lower & East Wallingford and Downtown Seattle, Route 26X is replaced by:
- Revised routes 31 and 32 - operating between Seattle Pacific University, Fremont, Lower Wallingford, U District Station, University Village, and Seattle Children's Hospital, will have combined frequent, all-day service. These routes will connect riders directly to the U District Station and/or routes 40 and 62, where riders can transfer to access north, south, or central downtown Seattle.
- Revised Route 44 - operating between Ballard, Wallingford, U District Station, and UW Medical Center, will provide frequent, all-day service and an improved connection to the U District Station where riders can transfer to the 1 Line (Link) to access downtown Seattle.
- Route 62 - operating between Sand Point, Ravenna, Green Lake, Wallingford, Fremont, and downtown Seattle, will continue to provide frequent, all-day service.
Route 28X
Several trips will be deleted due to decreased STBD funding.
Routes 31, 32
Routes 31 and 32 will be revised in the University District, to provide improved east-west transit connectivity along NE 45th St, and to make connections between the new U District Station and Seattle Children's Hospital. Routes 31 and 32 will no longer serve stops along Stevens Way through the University of Washington campus, and will no longer be connected to Route 75.
Route 33
Several trips will be deleted due to decreased STBD funding.
Route 40
Beginning Saturday, October 2, the Northgate Transit Center will close to the public, and Route 40 will no longer stop there. Route 40 will serve bays 1 and 4 at the new Northgate Station, just west of the Northgate Transit Center.
Route 41
Route 41 will be permanently deleted.
Alternative service is provided by Route 75 and the 1 Line (Link).
- Between Lake City and Northgate revised [#route40 Route 75], providing service along NE 125th St and 5th Ave NE.
- Between Northgate and Downtown Seattle, the 1 Line (Link).
Route 44
The westbound Route 44 will be revised to operate on NE 43rd St and 12th Ave NE between 15th Ave NE and NE 45th St, to serve the new U District Station.
Route 45
Route 45 will be revised to connect with Route 75 and provide direct service to the University of Washington Campus along Stevens Way. Route 45 will no longer operate along Roosevelt Way NE, 12th Ave NE, NE Pacific St, NE Pacific Pl, or Montlake Blvd NE. Routes 45 and 75 are being revised to better integrate Metro service with Link light rail and reduce duplication of service.
Route 48
Route 48 will be revised to serve the University Heights Center. Several trips will be deleted due to decreased STBD funding.
Route 49
Route 49 will be revised to serve the new U District Station and will no longer serve stops north of NE 45th St.
Route 50
On Weekdays, selected Route 50 trips will operate between West Seattle and SODO only, and will not continue to Othello Station. These trips are being added to help to meet increasing demand due to the ongoing closure of the West Seattle Bridge, and to make connections with the 1 Line (Link) at SODO Station. Route 50 service will be reduced between SODO and Othello Station on weekdays only.
Routes 56, 57
One Route 56 AM trip, and one Route 57 PM trip will be deleted due to decreased STBD funding.
Route 60
Several trips will be added to Route 60 to meet increasing demand due to the ongoing closure of the West Seattle Bridge.
Route 63
Route 63 will be permanently deleted.
Alternative service will be provided by routes 64, 67, or new routes 320 and 322.
- Between Northgate and South Lake Union, use new Route 320
- Between Northgate and Green Lake Park and Ride, use Route 67 on Roosevelt Way NE.
- Between Green Lake Park and Ride and South Lake Union or First Hill, use Route 64, or new Route 322.
Route 64X
Route 64X will be revised to operate between Lake City, Wedgwood, Ravenna, the new Roosevelt Station, and South Lake Union in the peak periods on weekdays. Route 64X will no longer serve stops on First Hill or north of NE 130th St in Lake City. Route 64X is being revised to better integrate with Link light rail, and to better serve North downtown Seattle markets that are not yet served by Link light rail, and to reduce duplication of service.
Route 67
Beginning Saturday, October 2, the Northgate Transit Center will close to the public, and Route 67 will no longer stop there. Route 67 will serve Bay 1 at the new Northgate Station, just west of the closed Northgate Transit Center.
Route 70
Route 70 will be revised to serve the new U District Station and will no longer serve stops north of NE 45th St.
Route 71
Route 71 will be permanently deleted.
Alternative service will be provided by routes 45, 62, 64, 73, 79 and Link light rail.
- North of NE 65th St, use new Route 79, which provides east-west service along NE 75th St between Sand Point and Roosevelt Station.
- Along NE 65th St, use routes 62 and 64 to connect directly to downtown Seattle or to the 1 Line (Link) at Roosevelt Station.
- South of NE 65th St, use routes 45 and 73 to connect to the University District or to the 1 Line (Link) at U District or Roosevelt stations.
Route 73
Route 73 will be revised to serve the new Roosevelt Station and better integrate with Link light rail by shifting Route 73 to operate southbound on Roosevelt Way NE and Lake City Way NE; and northbound on 12th Ave NE and Lake City Way NE between NE 80th St and NE Ravenna Blvd. Route 73 will no longer operate on 15th Ave NE between NE Ravenna Blvd and NE 80th St.
Route 74
Route 74 will be permanently deleted.
Alternative service will be provided by route 75, new route 79, and the 1 Line (Link).
- Along Sand Point Way NE, use either Route 75 to connect with the 1 Line (Link) at University of Washington Station, or use new Route 79 to connect with the 1 Line (Link) at the U District Station, to travel to/from downtown Seattle.
- Along NE 55th St, use new Route 79 to connect with the 1 Line (Link) at the U District Station, to travel to/from downtown Seattle.
Route 75
Route 75 will be revised to serve the new Northgate and U District stations and will no longer stop at the Northgate Transit Center, which will close to the public on Saturday, October 2, or operate on Lake City Way NE and NE Northgate Way to/from Northgate Station. It will instead operate on NE 125th St and 5th Ave NE. Route 75 will serve bays 1 and 4 at the Northgate Station, just west of the closed Northgate Transit Center.
Route 75 will no longer connect with routes 31 & 32. It will instead connect with Route 45 to provide direct service to the University of Washington Campus along Stevens Way.
Route 76
Route 76 will be permanently deleted.
Alternative service is provided by routes 62, 64, new Route 79, and the 1 Line (Link).
- Between Sandpoint and Roosevelt Station, use new Route 79 providing east-west service along NE 75th St, and revised service on routes 62 and 64.
- Between Roosevelt Station and downtown Seattle, use the 1 Line (Link), providing a new, all-day frequent connection to the University District, downtown Seattle, and areas south.
Route 77
Route 77 will be permanently deleted.
Alternative service will be provided by routes 73, 347, 348, and the 1 Line (Link).
- North of NE 145th St, use Route 348 to connect to the 1 Line (Link) at Northgate Station.
- Between NE 145th St and Pinehurst Way NE, use routes 347 and 348 to connect to the 1 Line (Link) at Northgate Station, or use Route 73 to connect to the 1 Line (Link) at Roosevelt Station.
Route 78
Route 78 will be permanently deleted.
Alternative service is provided by routes 31, 32, 45, and 75.
- Between the University of Washington and Seattle Children's, use revised routes 45 and 75, providing connected service along Stevens Way, NE 45th St, and Sandpoint Way NE.
- Between the U District Station and Seattle Children's, and Laurelhurst Elementary School, use revised routes 31 and 32, providing a combined frequent, all-day service along NE 45th St to/from 45th Av NE.
Route 79
New Route 79 will provide service between the University District and Roosevelt Station, via Ravenna, Sand Point, and View Ridge on weekdays only. Route 79 replaces part of routes 71, 74, and 76, and is being created to better integrate with Link light rail and provide improved east-west connections.
Route 106
Several trips will be deleted due to decreased STBD funding.
Route 107
Several trips will be deleted due to decreased STBD funding.
Route 120
Several trips will be added to Route 120 to meet increasing demand due to the ongoing closure of the West Seattle Bridge
Route 125
Two AM trips will be deleted due to decreased STBD funding.
Routes 131, 132
Routes 131 and 132 will no longer be connected to Route 26X, which will be deleted. The existing connections with Route 28X will be maintained. To provide continued service through downtown Seattle, trips that are not connected to Route 28X will proceed to and from a new terminal at 3rd Ave and Bell St.
Route 177
Route 177 will be partially restored and will no longer serve the stop pair on 23rd Ave S at S 319th Pl. It will instead serve Bays 2 and 7 at the Federal Way Transit Center.
Route 255
Route 255 will be extended to serve stops on NE Campus Pkwy and service levels will be restored to pre-pandemic levels.
Route 301
Route 301 will be revised to operate two-way service between Aurora Village, Shoreline P&R, and the new Northgate Station in the peak periods on weekdays. Route 301 is being revised to better integrate with Link light rail and will no longer provide service to downtown Seattle. Route 301 will serve Bay 2 at the Aurora Village Transit Center, and bays 3 and 4 at the new Northgate Station.
Route 302
New Route 302 will provide service between Richmond Beach, Aurora Village, Northgate, and First Hill in the peak periods on weekdays. Route 302 is being created to integrate with Link light rail, and better serve the First Hill neighborhood.
Route 303
Route 303 will be revised to operate between Aurora Village, Northgate, and First Hill in the peak periods on weekdays. Route 303 will no longer serve the Shoreline P&R, or the Northgate Transit Center which will close to the public on Saturday, October 2. Route 303 will serve Bay 3 at the new Northgate Station just west of the closed Northgate Transit Center. Route 303 is being revised to integrate with Link light rail, and to better serve the First Hill neighborhood in coordination with new Route 302.
Route 304
Route 304 will be revised to operate between Shoreline Park & Ride and the new Northgate Station in the peak periods on weekdays. Route 304 will serve bays 3 and 4 at Northgate Station. Route 304 will no longer serve Richmond Beach and downtown Seattle, or operate on or serve stops along the following streets: NW Richmond Beach Rd, NW 195th St, NW 196th St, NW 195th Pl, Richmond Beach Dr NW, and stops in downtown Seattle. Route 304 is being revised to better integrate with Link light rail.
Route 308
Route 308 will be permanently deleted.
Alternative service is provided by routes 73, 304, 320, 322, 331, 347, 348, 522 and the 1 Line (Link). Northeast of Ballinger Way NE, no alternative bus service will be available due to low ridership.
- Along Ballinger Way NE, use revised Route 331 to connect with Metro Route 372 or Sound Transit Route 522 on SR-522/ Bothell Way NE.
- Along Bothell Way NE, use new Metro Route 322 or Sound Transit Route 522 to connect with the 1 Line (Link) at Roosevelt Station. Route 322 will also provide a connection with First Hill. Use new Route 320 to connect with the 1 Line (Link) at Northgate Station, and for service to South Lake Union/Denny Triangle area via I-5.
- Along of NE 145th St, use Route 65 to connect with bus services in Lake City and along 15th Ave NE.
- On 15th Ave NE, use revised routes 347 and 348 to connect with the 1 Line (Link) at Northgate Station, or use revised Route 73 to connect with the 1 Line (Link) at Roosevelt Station.
- At NE 145th St and I-5, use revised Route 304 to connect with the 1 Line (Link) at Northgate Station.
Route 309
Route 309 will be permanently deleted.
Alternative service will be provided by routes 320, 322, ST 522 and the 1 Line (Link).
- For service to/from First Hill, use new Route 322 to connect between Kenmore and First Hill via SR-522 and I-5 or to connect to the 1 Line (Link) at Roosevelt Station.
- For service to/from South Lake Union, use new Route 320 to connect between Kenmore and South Lake Union via I-5 or to connect to the 1 Line (Link) at Northgate Station.
- For service to/from downtown Seattle, use new Route 320 to connect between Kenmore and the 1 Line (Link) at Northgate Station, or use new Route 322 or revised ST Route 522 to connect between Kenmore and the 1 Line (Link) at Roosevelt Station.
Route 312
Route 312 will be permanently deleted. Alternative service will be provided by routes 320, 322, ST 522, and the 1 Line (Link).
Between SR-522 and downtown Seattle, use revised ST Route 522 or new Route 322, and connect to the 1 Line (Link) at Roosevelt Station. During the peak period Route 322 will provide a direct connection to southern part of downtown Seattle via I-5 express lanes, in addition to First Hill. Or, use new Route 320 and connect to the 1 Line (Link) at Northgate Station. Route 320 will serve South Lake Union and the Denny Triangle area of downtown Seattle via the I-5 express lanes and Mercer St ramps.
Route 316
Route 316 will be permanently deleted.
Alternative service is provided by routes 20, 45, 345, 346 and the 1 Line (Link).
- North of N 92nd St, use routes 345 or 346 with improved peak frequency to/from Northgate Station where riders can transfer between Metro and the 1 Line (Link).
- Between N 85th St and N 92nd St, use new Route 20 to/from Northgate Station where riders can transfer between Metro and the 1 Line (Link).
- South of N 85th St, use revised Route 45 to/from Roosevelt Station where riders can transfer between Metro and the 1 Line (Link).
Route 320
New Route 320 will provide service between Kenmore, Lake Forest Park, Lake City, Northgate, and South Lake Union in the peak periods on weekdays. Route 320 is being created to improve integration between Metro and Link light rail, and better serve the South Lake Union area which is not yet directly served by Sound Transit Link light rail.
Route 322
New Route 322 will provide service between Kenmore, Lake Forest Park, Lake City, Roosevelt Station, and First Hill in the peak periods on weekdays. Route 322 is being created to improve integration between Metro and Link light rail services, and better serve the First Hill area of Seattle, which is not directly served by Sound Transit Link light rail.
Routes 345, 346
Routes 345 and 346 will no longer serve the Northgate Transit Center, which will close to the public on Saturday, October 2. Routes 345 and 346 will serve bays 1 and 4 at the new Northgate Station, just west of the closed Northgate Transit Center.
Routes 347, 348
Routes 347 and 348 will no longer serve the Northgate Transit Center, which will close to the public on Saturday, October 2, or operate on 5th Ave NE south of NE 103rd St, or on NE 100th St. Routes 347 and 348 will serve bays 1 and 4 at the new Northgate Station, just west of the closed Northgate Transit Center.
Route 355
Route 355 will be permanently deleted.
Alternative service is provided by routes 16X, 45, 304, 345 and the 1 Line (Link).
- North of NE 145th St, use revised Route 304 to connect with the 1 Line (Link) at Northgate Station.
- Between NE 145th St and NE 130th St, use revised Route 345 to connect with the 1 Line (Link) at Northgate Station.
- Near NE 105th St, use Route 40 to connect with the 1 Line (Link) at Northgate Station. At Northgate Station, riders can connect with the 1 Line (Link) to access University District and downtown Seattle, new Route 302 and revised Route 303 to access First Hill, or new Route 322 to access South Lake Union.
- Between NE 130th St and NE 85th St, use new Route 16X to access downtown Seattle.
- Along N 85th St, use revised Route 45 on N 85th St to the University District, or transfer to the 1 Line (Link) at Roosevelt Station to access downtown Seattle, or revised Route 64X to access South Lake Union, or new Route 322 to access First Hill.
Route 372
Route 372 will be revised to serve the new U District Station and will no longer serve stops on Campus Pkwy NE. Route 372 is being revised to better integrate with Sound Transit Link light rail.
Route 373
Route 373 will be permanently deleted.
Alternative service is provided by routes 73, 301, 302, 303, 346, 347, 348, and the 1 Line (Link).
- In Shoreline, west of I-5, use routes 301, 302, 303 or 346 to Northgate Station and transfer to the 1 Line (Link) for service to/from the U District.
- In Shoreline, east of I-5, use revised Route 347 and transfer to revised Route 73 at Jackson Park or the 1 Line (Link) at Northgate Station.
- In Seattle, south of NE 145th St, use revised Route 73; or use revised routes 347 or 348 to Northgate Station and transfer to the 1 Line (Link) for service to/from the U District.
Routes 980, 995
At the request of the Lakeside School, routes 980 and 985 will be permanently deleted.
RapidRide C Line
On weekdays, several trips will be added to RapidRide C Line to meet increasing demand due to the ongoing closure of the West Seattle Bridge.
On Saturday and Sunday, several trips will be deleted due to decreased STBD funding.
RapidRide D Line
Several trips will be deleted due to decreased STBD funding.
RapidRide E Line
Several trips will be deleted due to decreased STBD funding.
Selected late-night northbound trips will be extended to serve the Stadium Station.
ST 522
Route 522 will be revised to serve the new Roosevelt Station and will no longer serve downtown Seattle. Transfers between Route 522 and the Sound Transit 1 Line (Link) will be timed with every other train during the peak periods (every 16 minutes). During off-peak hours when trains run every 10 minutes, trips will operate every 10-20 minutes, timed with train arrivals. During peak periods, King County Metro Routes 320 and 322 will provide extra capacity on the SR-522 corridor parallel to ST Express Route 522, serving First Hill and South Lake Union.
ST 542
Route 542 will be revised and will no longer serve the Green Lake P&R, it will instead terminate in the U District. For service to Roosevelt Station, near the Green Lake P&R, passengers may transfer to the Sound Transit 1 Line (Link) at University of Washington, or U District stations.
ST 556
Route 556 service will be restored with a revised routing. Route 556 will no longer serve the Northgate Transit Center; it will instead serve the new U District Station. For service to Northgate, passenger may transfer to the Sound Transit 1 Line (Link) at University of Washington, or U District stations.
