Service Change

Effective 3-10-18 thru 9-21-18

Metro continues making investments that were funded as part of the adopted 2017-2018 budget, which includes the addition of more than 300,000 annual service hours to improve service throughout King County.


Metro will be adding trips and adjusting schedules to improve service reliability and on-time performance on 18 Metro routes. Metro will be adding peak period trips to 20 routes to relieve overcrowding and provide more options for commuters.

Route revisions

Here's a list that highlights the routes that have new service or routing revisions. Choose a route number to learn about the changes that will begin on March 10, 2018. Some routes with small changes to trip times are not included on this page.

Route 4 Shuttle

In order to maintain the current level of Route 4 service to and from Judkins Park during 23rd Ave S construction, a new Route 4 Shuttle will operate in both directions between E Jefferson St & 23rd Ave S and S Walker St & 25th Ave S. The Route 4 Shuttle will operate on weekdays only and maintain the same level of service as Route 4. On weekends, Route 4 will continue to operate the full length of the route.


When construction begins on 23rd Ave S between S Jackson St and Rainier Ave S in April, the Route 4 Shuttle will be rerouted for about eight months. The Shuttle will operate in both directions on Martin Luther King Jr Way S between S Judkins St and S Jackson St, and on S Jackson St between Martin Luther King Jr Way S and 23rd Ave S.

Route 5 & 5E

On weekdays, two new southbound peak-period trips to downtown Seattle leaving Phinney Ave N & N 46th St at 8:26 am (Route 5) and from Greenwood Ave N & N 145th St at 8:50 am (Route 5 Express) will be added.

Route 7

All Route 7 trips that are not connected to Route 49 in downtown Seattle will be extended to a new drop-off only bus stop eastbound on Virginia St just west of 4th Ave. When operating southbound to Rainier Beach, Route 7 will serve the bus stop eastbound on Virginia St just west of 6th Ave.

Route 21

Due to a two-year construction project on S Lander St that is scheduled to begin in early 2018, Route 21 will be revised to operate in both directions on 1st Ave S between S Lander St and Edgar Martinez Drive S, and on Edgar Martinez Drive S between 1st Ave S & 4th Ave S to regular routing.

Northbound, Route 21 will serve bus stops on 1st Ave S at S Stacy and S Holgate streets, and on Edgar Martinez Drive S just east of 1st Ave S. Southbound, bus stops will be served on 1st Ave S just south of Edgar Martinez Way S and at S Holgate and S Stacy streets.

NOTE: When Mariner game-day reroutes are in effect, Route 21 will operate in both directions on S Holgate St between 1st Ave S and 4th Ave S, and 4th Ave S between S Holgate St and Edgar Martinez Drive S.

Route 22

On Sunday only, southbound Route 22 to Arbor Heights will be revised to operate westbound on SW Oregon St and southbound Glenn Way SW to regular routing on California Ave SW.

Route 22 will not operate eastbound on SW Oregon St between 44th Ave SW and California Ave SW, and southbound on California Ave SW between SW Oregon St and SW Edmunds St. The bus stop eastbound on SW Oregon St just west of California Ave SW will not be served.

Route 24

During the morning peak period, a new southbound trip to downtown Seattle arriving at 3rd Ave & Cedar St at 8:28 am will be added.

Route 29

During the morning and afternoon peak periods only, southbound Route 29 to downtown Seattle will be revised to operate on 1st Ave between Broad and Blanchard streets, and on 2nd Ave between Blanchard and Virginia streets. Route 29 will serve a new bus stop at Broad St and an existing bus stop at Wall St.

Northbound Route 29 to Ballard will operate on 1st Ave between Wall and Broad streets serving the bus stops at Wall and Broad streets.

Routes 31, 32 & 75

On weekday evenings, two new eastbound Route 31 trips to the U-District leaving 34th Ave W & W McGraw St at 8:53 and 9:24 pm will be added. These two trips will continue as Route 75 to Northgate leaving Brooklyn Ave NE & NE Pacific St at 9:22 and 9:52 pm.

Two new southbound Route 75 trips to the U-District leaving Bay 1 at the Northgate TC at 6:56 and 7:26 pm will also be added. These two trips will continue as Route 31 to central Magnolia leaving Sand Point Way NE & NE 40th St at 7:22 and 7:52 pm.

Also, the westbound Route 32 trip to the Seattle Center leaving Sand Point Way NE & NE 40th St at 6:50 pm and the eastbound trip to the U-District leaving 1st Ave N & N Republican St at 8:25 pm will be revised to operate as Route 31 trips.

Route 37

Due to a two-year construction project on S Lander St that is scheduled to begin in early 2018, northbound Route 37 to downtown Seattle will be revised to operate on 1st Ave S between S Lander St and Edgar Martinez Drive S, and on Edgar Martinez Drive S between 1st Ave S & 4th Ave S. Rerouted Route 37 will serve the bus stop eastbound on Edgar Martinez Drive S just east of 1st Ave S.

Southbound Route 37 to the Alaska Junction is unaffected by this construction and will operate its regular routing via the Alaskan Way viaduct and West Seattle bridge.

Routes 43 & 44

The northbound Route 43 trips to the U-District leaving Pike St & 4th Ave at 4:10, 4:40, 5:14 and 5:45 pm will no longer change to Route 44 at UW Station. Instead, these four trips will continue as Route 43 to NE 45th St & Brooklyn Ave NE only.

Route 50

Due to a two-year construction project on S Lander St that is scheduled to begin in early 2018, Route 50 will be revised to operate in both directions on 1st Ave S between S Lander St and S Holgate St, on S Holgate St between 1st Ave S and Sodo Busway and on Sodo Busway between S Holgate St and S Lander St.

Westbound, rerouted Route 50 to West Seattle will serve the bus stop northbound on the SODO Busway just north of S Lander St.

Also, one westbound Route 50 trip leaving Othello Station at 8:32 am and one eastbound trip leaving Alki at 3 pm will be added. With the addition of these two trips, 20-minute service frequency will be extended one hour later in the morning and one hour earlier in the afternoon.

Route 60

Southbound Route 60 to Westwood Village will be revised to operate via 8th Ave between Spruce St and Yesler Way, and on Yesler Way between 8th Ave and Broadway. Route 60 will no longer operate on E Fir St and Broadway between 9th Ave and Yesler Way.

Routes 63 & 64

On weekdays, a new northbound Route 64 trip to Jackson Park leaving E Jefferson St & 17th Ave at 5:57 pm will be added. Also, existing routes 63 and 64 trips will be adjusted between 5:35 and 7:30 pm.

Route 70

On weekdays, two new southbound peak-period trips to downtown Seattle will be added. Also, existing Route 70 trips will be adjusted between 7:46 and 8:53 am providing a six-minute service frequency during this time.

Route 74

On weekdays, Route 74 will operate a new midday shuttle between Sand Point and the U-District. Southbound Route 74 will operate every 30 minutes between 9:23 am and 2:33 pm, and northbound between 9:45 am and 2:55 pm.

Route 99

DELETED: Alternative Route 99 service between Broad St and Virginia St in Belltown will be provided by revised Route 29 during the peak periods only.

Route 101

Route 101 will be revised to begin and end at the South Renton P&R instead of the Renton TC. Route 101 will continue to operate via the Renton TC serving the revised boarding locations at Bay 5 to downtown Seattle and Bay 6 to the South Renton Park & Ride.

On weekdays, five northbound Route 101 trips to downtown Seattle will be converted to Route 102 trips leaving the South Renton Park & Ride at approximately 4:50, 5:38, 6:14, 6:33 and 7:07 am. Three southbound Route 101 trips to the South Renton Park & Ride will also be converted to Route 102 trips leaving Convention Place Station at approximately 3:35, 4:12 and 4:43 pm. Also, weekday peak and midday service frequency will improve to every 15 minutes.

Route 102

On weekdays, five northbound Route 101 trips to downtown Seattle will be converted to Route 102 trips leaving the South Renton Park & Ride at approximately 4:50, 5:38, 6:14, 6:33 and 7:07 am. Three southbound Route 101 trips to the South Renton Park & Ride will also be converted to Route 102 trips leaving Convention Place Station at approximately 3:35, 4:12 and 4:43 pm.

These new trips will not serve the Fairwood area so please take note of the bus destination sign before boarding Route 102.

Route 105

At the Renton Transit Center, Route 105 will begin and end its service at Bay 6. It will no longer serve Bay 5.

Routes 116, 118 & 119

Due to a two-year construction project on S Lander St that is scheduled to begin in early 2018, routes 116, 118 and 119 to downtown Seattle will be revised to operate in both directions on 1st Ave S between S Lander St and Edgar Martinez Drive S, and on Edgar Martinez Drive S between 1st Ave S and 4th Ave S.

Northbound, rerouted routes 116, 118 and 119 will serve the bus stop eastbound on Edgar Martinez Drive S just east of 1st Ave S. Southbound, routes 116, 118 and 119 will serve the bus stop southbound on 1st Ave S just south of Edgar Martinez Drive S.

NOTE: When Mariner game-day reroutes are in effect, routes 116, 118 and 119 will operate in both directions on S Holgate St between 1st Ave S and 4th Ave S, and on 4th Ave S between S Holgate St and Edgar Martinez Drive S.

Also, due to construction that is scheduled to begin in early 2018 on Fauntleroy Way SW between SW Alaska St and SW Genesee St, northbound routes 116, 118 and 119 will be revised to operate on SW Alaska St between Fauntleroy Way SW and 35th Ave SW, and on 35th Ave SW between SW Alaska St and SW Avalon Way.

Southbound routes 116, 118 and 119 are unaffected by this construction and will continue to operate on Fauntleroy Way SW between SW Avalon Way and SW Alaska St.

Route 150

On Sunday, service frequency will improve to every 15 minutes between 8:21 am and 5:51 pm when operating northbound from Kent to downtown Seattle, and between 9:15 am and 7:16 pm southbound from downtown Seattle to Kent.

Routes 153 & 183

On weekdays, midday service frequency for routes 153 and 183 will improve to every 30 minutes. Also, new evening weekday Route 183 service will be provided every 60 minutes until about 10 pm.

Route 156

On weekdays, morning peak-period service frequency will improve to every 15 minutes between 6:06 and 7:36 am when operating northbound from Highline College to Southcenter, and between 6:53 and 8:23 am southbound from Southcenter to Highline College.

Route 180

On weekdays, morning peak-period service frequency will improve to every 20 minutes between 5:37 and 8 am when operating northbound from SE Auburn to Burien.

Route 181

On weekdays, morning peak-period service frequency will improve to every 20 minutes between 6:23 and 8:23 am when operating northbound from the Twin Lakes Park & Ride to Green River College, and between 6:25 and 8:28 am southbound from Green River College to the Twin Lakes Park & Ride.

Route 212

Two new westbound peak-period trips to downtown Seattle leaving Bay 1 at the Eastgate Park & Ride at about 8:59 and 9:35 am will be added.

Route 217

Westbound Route 217 to downtown Seattle will be revised to operate via 4th Ave S serving the bus stop northbound on 4th Ave S just south of S Jackson St. Route 217 will no longer serve the bus stop northbound on 5th Ave S, north of Jackson St.

Route 218

Three new westbound peak-period trips to downtown Seattle leaving Bay 4 at the Issaquah Highlands Park & Ride at about 8:54, 9:08 and 9:18 will be added.

Routes 224, 232 & 248

Due to the opening of Redmond Way to two-way traffic in downtown Redmond, routes 224 and 232 to Duvall, and 248 to Avondale will be revised to operate eastbound on Redmond Way between 164th Ave NE and Avondale Way NE. Routes 224, 232 and 248 will no longer operate on Cleveland St.

Due to the opening of Redmond Way to two-way traffic in downtown Redmond, routes 224 and 232 to Duvall, and 248 to Avondale will be revised to operate eastbound on Redmond Way between 164th Ave NE and Avondale Way NE. Routes 224, 232 and 248 will no longer operate on Cleveland St.

Routes 224 to Redmond, 232 to Bellevue and the Bellevue TC and 248 to the Kirkland TC are unaffected by this change and will continue to operate westbound on Redmond Way as usual.

Route 240

Route 240 evening and Sunday service frequency will improve from 60 minutes to 30 minutes during the following times:

Weekday evenings from 7:29 to 10:29 pm, Saturday evening from 6:38 to 10:38 pm and all day Sunday from 8:08 am and 10:38 pm when operating northbound from Renton to Bellevue.

Weekday evenings from 8:06 to 11:05 pm, Saturday evening from 7:05 to 10:05 pm, and all day Sunday from 7:35 am to 10:05 pm when operating southbound from Bellevue to Renton.

Route 245

During the weekday morning peak period, service frequency will improve to every 12 minutes from 6:52 to 9:29 am when operating northbound from Eastgate to Kirkland, and from 6:57 to 8:45 am when operating southbound from Kirkland to Eastgate.

Route 269

Route 269 will operate a new Saturday schedule between the Bear Creek Park & Ride and the Issaquah Highlands Park & Ride. Route 269 will operate every 30 minutes between about 8:30 am and 7 pm.

Route 312

On weekdays, a new northbound Route 312 peak-period trip to Kenmore leaving 4th Ave S & S Jackson St at 4:05 pm will be added. Also, the current northbound trip leaving 4th Ave S & S Jackson St at 4:03 pm will be revised to leave three minutes earlier at 4 pm.

ST Routes 522 & 545

Northbound Sound Transit routes 522 and 545 will be revised to operate via S Royal Brougham Way between 6th Ave S and 4th Ave S, and on 4th Ave S between S Royal Brougham Way and Seattle Blvd S. These two routes will no longer operate on 6th Ave S north of S Royal Brougham Way and on Seattle Blvd S between 6th Ave S and 4th Ave S.

ST Route 545

Due to the opening of Redmond Way to two-way traffic in downtown Redmond, ST Route 545 to the Bear Creek Park & Ride will be revised to operate eastbound on Redmond Way between 164th Ave NE and Avondale Way NE. ST Route 545 will no longer operate on Cleveland St.

ST Route 545 to downtown Seattle is unaffected by this change and will continue to operate westbound on Redmond Way as usual.

On Saturday only, westbound ST Route 545 trips to downtown Seattle that operate while Route 269 is in service (approximately every 30 minutes from 8:30 am and 7 pm) will be revised to leave the Bear Creek P&R one minute later in order to improve connections with Route 269. Eastbound trips are unaffected by this change.

ST Route 554

Westbound ST Route 554 to downtown Seattle will be revised to operate via 4th Ave S serving the bus stop northbound on 4th Ave S just south of S Jackson St. ST Route 554 will no longer serve the bus stop northbound on 5th Ave S, north of Jackson St.

On Saturday only, eastbound ST Route 554 trips to the Bear Creek Park & Ride that operate while Route 269 is in service (approximately every 30 minutes from 8:30 am and 7 pm) will be revised to arrive at the Bear Creek Park & Ride three minutes earlier in order to make connections with Route 269. Westbound trips are unaffected by this change.

Route 635 (Des Moines Community Shuttle)

The Route 635 Des Moines Community Shuttle, which began operating on January 29, provides fixed-route peak-period service between the Angle Lake Link light rail Station and the Des Moines Marina District.

The Des Moines Community Shuttle operates about every 15 minutes Monday-Friday from approximately 5:15 to 9:15 am, and from 2:15 to 7 pm. Limited flexible routing to and from the Wesley Homes Flexible Service Area is also available on a reservation basis.

Rides within the Wesley Homes Flexible Service Area must be scheduled in advance. Make your trip request at least two hours before you want to be picked up. You can make reservations for up to 30 days in advance. Reservations are on a first-come, first-served basis.

RapidRide C Line

On weekdays, two new northbound peak-period trips leaving SW Barton St & 29th Ave SW at 7:26 and 9 am will be added. Also, the first two northbound trips to South Lake Union leaving the Westwood Village at 4:17 and 4:47 am will be revised to leave eight minutes later at 4:25 and 4:55 am.

A new southbound trip to Westwood Village leaving Valley St & Fairview Ave N at 4 pm will also be added.

RapidRide D Line

On weekdays, a new southbound peak-period trip to downtown Seattle leaving NW 100th Place & 7th Ave NW at 8:17 am will be added.

RapidRide E Line

On weekdays, two new southbound peak-period trips to downtown Seattle leaving Bay 10 at the Aurora Village TC at 8:19 and 9:18 am will be added. Also, two new northbound peak-period trips to Aurora Village leaving Prefontaine Place S & Yesler Way at 5:18 and 6:42 pm will be added.

RapidRide F Line

On weekdays, service frequency will improve to every 15 minutes between 7:50 and 10:05 pm when operating eastbound from Burien to Renton, and between 7:43 and 10:29 pm westbound from Renton to Burien.

DART Route 908

At the Renton Transit Center, DART Route 908 will now serve Bay 10 instead of Bay 5.

DART Route 930

Four new trips to Redmond Town Center leaving the Kingsgate Park & Ride at 9 and 9:30 am, and 2:18 and 2:48 pm will be added. Also, six new trips to the Kingsgate Park & Ride leaving Redmond Town Center at 8:33, 9:03 and 9:33 am, and 2:21, 2:51 and 3:21 pm will be added.

With the addition of these trips, service frequency will improve to every 30 minutes and the span of service will be extended between the morning and afternoon peak periods.

You need to make your trip request at least two hours in advance of your pick-up time. Reservations can be made for 30 days at a time, up to

30 days in advance. Reservations will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis.

Metro Transit

Sunday schedule will be operated on:

  • Memorial Day, Monday, May 28
  • Independence Day, Wednesday, July 4
  • Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 3

Extra late night service will be operated on:

  • Independence Day, Wednesday, July 4

University of Washington

Routes 31, 32, 73, 75, 167, 197, 271, 277, 372 and 373 will have selected weekday trips canceled when the UW is not in session:

  • Monday, March 19 through Friday, March 23

Kenmore Park & Ride and Shoreline Community College

Route 331, which operates between the Kenmore P&R and Shoreline Community College, will also have trips suspended on the following dates:

  • Monday, March 19 through Friday, March 23

Sound Transit

Routes 522, 540, 541, 542, 545, 550, 554, 555, 556, Link, Sounder

The Sound Transit bus routes listed above, operated by Metro, and those operated by Pierce Transit (routes 560, 566 and 577) will operate a Sunday schedule on Memorial Day, Monday, May 28, 2018, Independence Day, Wednesday, July 4, 2018 and Labor Day, Monday, September 3, 2018.

Central Link light rail will also operate a Sunday schedule on Memorial Day, Independence Day and Labor Day.

Sounder commuter rail will not operate on Memorial Day, Independence Day and Labor Day.
