RTC Transit 12-8-2019

LAS VEGAS – In an effort to better serve transit customers, the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) will implement a number of cost-neutral improvements to increase service on some of its most popular transit routes Sunday, Dec. 8.

The transit service changes are primarily in the East Henderson area to better serve the growing College of Southern Nevada (CSN) Henderson campus and Nevada State College with three bus trips per hour as well as the surrounding neighborhoods that have a high rate of transit ridership. These changes help to meet increasing transit demand without raising costs. Specifically, these changes are:

Dec Service Change MapRoute 217 (Warm Spring / Lake Mead Parkway) will now have more convenient two-way service with a condensed loop east of Boulder Highway, providing more direct service for transit riders in the area.

The Boulder Highway Express (BHX) will branch into the BHX‑A and BHX‑B south of Lake Mead Parkway to improve service to both CSN and NSC campuses. The current BHX will become BHX‑A. The new BHX‑B will remain on Boulder Highway and continue to Nevada State Drive, ending at NSC.

The Henderson & Downtown Express (HDX) will now take Water Street to Pacific Avenue and Horizon Drive (replacing Route 217) and will also serve the CSN Henderson campus. In addition, frequency along Route 215 (Bonanza) that serves areas in and near downtown Las Vegas will increase to every 20 minutes during weekday daytime hours (currently every 30 minutes), which will make service more convenient for customers. It marks the sixteenth RTC route to operate every 20 minutes or better during weekday daytime hours.

In total, there will be schedule changes on 27 routes, ranging from very minor to a complete scheduling overhaul to improve service and efficiency. For details on route schedules, visit rtcsnv.com.
