SamTrans 6-24-2018

Effective Sunday June 24, 2018, SamTrans will adjust several of its routes to improve on-time performance and add service to grow ridership and improve efficiency. All changes affect weekday schedules, unless otherwise noted.

New timetables soon will be available on SamTrans buses and at city halls, libraries and at www.samtrans.com. Consult new timetables or call 1-800-660-4287 (TTY 650-508-6448).

SamTrans reviews and adjusts its schedules three times a year in response to traffic impacts, customer travel patterns and other variables. The next system schedule change will be Aug. 5.

Summary of Changes

Because regular school will not be in session during the summer months, the following routes will not operate school-day only trips between June 25 and Aug. 3: 14, 19, 24, 25, 28, 29, 35, 37, 39, 46, 49, 53, 54, 55, 56, 57, 58, 59, 61, 62, 67, 68, 72, 73, 78, 79, 80, 81, 82, 83, 84, 85, 87, 88, 95, 110, 112, 120, 130, 140, 141, 250, 251 and 256. School service will start again on Aug. 6.

Routes 16, 18 and 286 will have summer school-day only service between June 19 and July 27. Schedules will be available online at www.samtrans.com.

Service Changes

ECR Rapid

With fewer stops than the SamTrans ECR service, the ECR Rapid will speed up travel time along El Camino Real for customers by up to 40 minutes.

The ECR Rapid complements the ECR service. The Rapid will serve 11 stops in each direction starting from the Redwood City Transit Center and ending at Daly City BART. ECR Rapid buses will serve stops located at major intersections and transfer points.

During the week, the ECR Rapid will operate during morning and afternoon peak commute times – 6 a.m. - 10 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. On weekends, the service operates from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.

ECR

The ECR service will go from a bus every 15 minutes to one every 20 minutes on weekdays and from 20 minutes to every 30 minutes on weekends to improve on-time performance.

On weekdays and weekends, late night service will be added to the ECR between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m. The service will begin at Mission/Wellington and end at SFO Courtyard A. Buses will not serve Colma BART or Daly City BART

SFO

Route SFO will operate direct service from the Millbrae Caltrain/BART Transit Center to San Francisco International Airport. The route is timed to meet northbound Caltrain trains. Weekday service is 5:46 a.m. to 11:43 p.m. Saturday, service is 8:18 a.m. to 11:57 p.m. and Sunday, service is 10:03 a.m. to 11:33 p.m. Service will be provided by three “Caltrain SFO Connection” wrapped buses equipped with luggage racks.

Weekday and weekend northbound trips at South San Francisco BART will arrive three minutes later than current schedule. All other times remain the same.

Eastbound, Sneath/Cherry time point will move to Cherry/Peninsula Place to keep the bus from blocking traffic. Westbound, Sneath/Cherry time point will move to Cherry/Sneath. No changes in time.

The eastbound 11 p.m. trip at Palmetto/Manor will depart at 11:30 p.m., arriving at SFO Airtrain at 12:11 a.m. All subsequent times will change by 30 minutes. The westbound 9 pm. and 10 p.m. trips at SFO Airtrain will depart 30 minutes later than current schedule. All subsequent times will change. The 11 p.m. SFO Airtrain trip will be eliminated due to low ridership.

All trips will depart 10 minutes later than current schedule to improve on-time performance.

All eastbound trips will depart four to 10 minutes earlier.

All trips will depart Cañada College nine minutes earlier than current schedule. All subsequent times will change.

Westbound, all trips will depart Newbridge/Willow up to four minutes earlier or later. Some trips may arrive at Palo Alto Caltrain up to eight minutes later than current schedule. Eastbound, all trips will depart Univeristy/Woodland up to six minutes later. All subsequent times will change.

Northbound, all trips will depart Saratoga/Park Place up to three minutes earlier. Trips will depart SFO Courtyard A three to five minutes later. Southbound, trips that run between 4:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. will depart Mission/7th up to three minutes later.

Weekend trips departing Main/Poplar at 5:25 a.m. and San Mateo Medical Center at 4:26 a.m. will be eliminated due to low ridership.

The time point at Bay/University will replace time points at Newbridge/Saratoga and Newbridge/Willow. Southbound, between Menlo Park Caltrain Station and Bay/University from 4 p.m. and 6 p.m., up to 12 minutes will be added to the schedule to improve on-time performance.
