Bay Area toll bridges

From Transit.Wiki
(Redirected from Bay Area Toll bridges)

San Francisco Bay and San Pablo Bay are the most prominent geographic features in the Bay Area. There are 8 toll bridges in the Bay Area. All the bridges only collect tolls one way. Transit service is available on all toll bridges, but not all bridges allow bicycles and pedestrians.

All toll bridges accept FasTrak electronic tolling tag or "pay-by-plate" payment. With "pay-by-plate," drivers will receive an invoice by mail (monthly after the first crossing) and can submit payment online, by phone, or at certain locations.

The toll for all bridges except the Golden Gate Bridge is set by the State legislature and voter-approved ballot measures to pay for construction, maintenance, and retrofit of the toll bridges, along with transit projects and services (e.g. BART and transbay buses).
