Altamont Corridor Express (ACE) is a weekday only commuter rail service from Stockton to San Jose through the Altamont Pass. In Pleasanton, ACE riders can transfer to BART via a shuttle. In Santa Clara and San Jose, ACE trains connect with Caltrain and VTA Light Rail, along with shuttles to various employers and other destinations.

How to take ACE

Before boarding the trains, buy your train ticket from online or from a ticket agent (available at selected times at all stops except Vasco, Santa Clara, and San Jose). Cash, credit/debit cards, and commute benefit vouchers are accepted at staffed locations.

Pre-purchased tickets need to be validated by a validator machine on the platform before boarding.

ACE uses the proof of payment system and passengers caught without a valid ticket or pass are subject to eviction and/or citation.

Bicycle access

ACE trains allow bikes on designated bike cars. Each bike car has stalls for 14 bikes. Bikes can also be taken on non-bike cars where ties-downs are available.

Disabled access

ACE is accessible to people with disabilities at all stations. Mini-high platforms that provide wheelchair access are located on the south end of the platforms (toward San Jose) at most stops. To board trains, conductors will deploy a ramp to bridge the gap between the vehicle and the mini-high platform. Lift is used at stops without the ramp.
