RTD fares
RTD fares are charged according to the type of bus service, and for light rail, number of fare zones traveled.
For riders requiring multiple buses/light rail to complete a trip, a free transfer can be requested when boarding for cash and ticket riders. A validated light rail ticket also serves as a transfer. A bus transfer or light rail ticket is valid for 3 hours. A transfer is not valid for service in the opposite direction. A fare upgrade is required when boarding a bus with a higher fare than the value of the transfer.
MyRide is the next step in RTD’s smart card evolution and provides a convenient and cost efficient way to load money and pay your fare. You simply tap the card to the validator while boarding a bus or prior to boarding rail to validate your trip. The smart card is free and you can choose the amount of money to put on it at any time. You’ll save $0.25, ($0.15 for discount riders) compared to cash fare every time you use your MyRide card. Paperless transfers are now included in your fare, with a three hour transfer window after your first tap.
School enrollment is required for youth ages 14-19 (middle or high school) to qualify for youth fare. Active US military members ride free on all RTD services.
