King County Metro 9-2-2023

Starting Sept. 2, King County Metro will update transit schedules to improve schedule reliability for riders and help reduce last-minute cancellations. To better match transit service with bus and workforce availability, Metro will suspend 20 peak-only commuter routes and reduce service on 12 routes. Alternatives are available for nearly all affected routes. Most riders will see no changes as 124 of 156 routes and 92% of boardings are not affected.

Route revisions

Choose a route number to learn about the changes that will begin on September 2, 2023. Some routes with small changes to trip times are not included on this page.

Suspended routes and service alternatives

Route 15

Route 15 will be suspended. Alternative service is available between Ballard and downtown Seattle along 15th Avenue NW and Elliot Avenue W using the RapidRide D Line.

Route 16

Route 16 will be suspended. Alternative service to/from downtown Seattle is available using the Route 5 along Greenwood Avenue N, Phinney Avenue N and Aurora Avenue N.

Route 18

Route 18 will be suspended. Alternative service is available between Ballard and downtown Seattle using routes 40 and RapidRide D Line.

  • Along 24th Avenue NW, use Route 40.
  • Along 15th Avenue W and Elliott Avenue W, use RapidRide D Line.

Route 29

Route 29 will be suspended. Alternative service is available using routes 1, 2, 3, 4, 13, 31, 32, 40, RapidRide D Line and Seattle Monorail.

  • Between Ballard and downtown Seattle, use Route 40 or RapidRide D Line.
  • Between Ballard and West Nickerson Street, use Route 40 and Routes 31 or 32 with a transfer at Fremont.
  • Between Queen Anne, Uptown, and Downtown, use Routes 1, 2, 3, 4, or 13.
  • Between Uptown and Downtown, use RapidRide D Line or Routes 1, 2, 3, 4, or 13 or Seattle Monorail.

Route 55

Route 55 will be suspended. Alternative service is available using routes 56, 57, or Route 775 to connect with the West Seattle Water Taxi, and RapidRide C Line or Route 21.

  • Between Admiral Junction and downtown Seattle, use Routes 56 or 57, or Route 775 to connect with the West Seattle Water Taxi.
  • Between Alaska Junction and downtown Seattle, use RapidRide C Line.
  • Commuter parking is available at the Spokane Street Park and Ride, where service to downtown is available on Route 21.

Route 64

Route 64 will be suspended. Alternative service is available using routes 62, 65, 322, ST Express 522, Link 1 Line and Route 8 at Capitol Hill Station or Route 70 at U-District Station, or routes 40, 62, 70, RapidRide C Line, or South Lake Union (SLU) Streetcar between Westlake and SLU.

  • Between Lake City and Roosevelt, use Route 322 or ST Express 522.
  • Along 35th Avenue NE, use Route 65.
  • Along NE 65th Street, use Route 62. Parking is available at Green Lake Park & Ride.
  • Between Roosevelt or University of Washington Stations and South Lake Union, use Link 1 Line to connect with Route 8 at Capitol Hill Station, or with routes 40, 62, 70, RapidRide C Line, or the SLU streetcar at Westlake Station.
  • Between U District Station and South Lake Union, use Route 70.

Route 114

Route 114 will be suspended. Alternative service is available using routes 105, 111 or 240 and transfer to/from Route 101; Route 240 to/from Route 212, ST Express Routes 550 and 554.

  • At the intersection of NE 4th St and Union Avevue NE, use Route 111 for service to/from downtown Seattle.
  • In the East Renton Highlands, use Routes 105, 240, or Metro Flex and transfer to/from Route 101 in downtown Renton for service to/from downtown Seattle.
  • In Newcastle and South Bellevue, use Route 240 and transfer to/from Route 212 or ST Express 554 at Eastgate Park & Ride for service to/from downtown Seattle.

Parking is available at:

  • Renton Transit Center, where service to downtown Seattle is available on Route 101, or
  • South Bellevue Park & Ride, where service to downtown Seattle is available on ST Express 550, or
  • Newport Hills Park & Ride, where service to downtown Seattle is available on Route 111 or ST Express 560 and transfer to ST Express 550 at Bellevue Transit Center.

Route 121

Route 121 will be suspended. Alternative service is available using RapidRide H Line, or routes 113, 131 and 132.

  • Between Burien Transit Center and downtown Seattle, use RapidRide H Line or Routes 131 or 132.
  • Between Burien Transit Center and East Marginal Way South, use RapidRide H Line or Route 131 to transfer to Route 113 in White Center.
  • Parking is available at Burien Transit Center.

Route 167

Route 167 will be suspended. Alternative service is available using routes 101 or 102 to Link 1 Line, Route 255 or ST Express 542.

  • In Renton, use Routes 101 or 102 to connect with Link light rail to/from the University District. Parking is available at Renton Transit Center and South Renton Park & Ride.
  • No service will be available at the 112th Avenue SE freeway station stop.
  • At the Evergreen Point and Clyde Hill/Yarrow Point freeway stations, use Route 255 or ST Express 542 for service to/from the University District. Parking is available at the Evergreen Point Bridge Park & Ride.

Route 190

Route 190 will be suspended. Alternative service is available using RapidRide A Line to Link 1 Line at Angle Lake Station, routes 150, 162, 165, 183 and Sounder.

  • At Redondo Heights Park & Ride, use RapidRide A Line to connect with Link 1 Line at Angle Lake Station for service to/from downtown Seattle or use Route 165 to connect with Route 162 at Kent/Des Moines Park & Ride for service to/from downtown Seattle. Parking is available at Redondo Heights Park & Ride and Angle Lake Station.
  • At South 272nd Street, use Route 183 to connect with Sounder or Route 150 to reach downtown Seattle.

Route 214

Route 214 will be suspended. Alternative service is available using ST Express 554.

  • Use ST Express 554 between Issaquah and downtown Seattle. Parking is available at Issaquah Transit Center.

Route 216

Route 216 will be suspended. Alternative service is available using routes 218, 269, ST Express routes 545, 550 and 554, Metro Flex in Sammamish.

  • Between Bear Creek Park & Ride and Issaquah Highlands Park & Ride, use Route 269.
  • Use Metro Flex in the Sammamish Service Area to connect with Issaquah Highlands Park & Ride.
  • Between Issaquah Highlands Park & Ride and downtown Seattle, use Route 218 or ST Express 554.
  • Between Bear Creek Park & Ride and downtown Seattle, use ST Express 545.
  • At Mercer Island Park & Ride, use ST Express routes 550 or 554.

Route 217

Route 217 will be suspended. Alternative service is available using routes 269 and ST Express Route 554.

  • Between downtown Seattle and Issaquah, use ST Express 554.
  • Between SE 56th Street and East Lake Sammamish Pkwy SE and Issaquah Transit Center, use Route 269.
  • Between Issaquah Transit Center, Eastgate Park & Ride, and downtown Seattle, use ST Express 554.
  • Between Eastgate and Factoria, use routes 240 or 245, or Route 241 between South Bellevue and Factoria.

Route 232

Route 232 will be suspended. Alternative service is available using routes 224 and RapidRide B Line.

  • Between Duvall and Redmond Transit Center, use Route 224. Parking is available at Duvall Park & Ride.
  • Between Redmond Transit Center, Redmond Technology Station, and Bellevue Transit Center, use RapidRide B Line.
  • Between Redmond Technology Center and Bellevue Transit Center, use ST Express 566. Parking is available at Redmond Transit Center.

Route 237

Route 237 will be suspended. Alternative service is available using routes 231, 250, 311, ST Express routes 522, 532 and 535.

  • In Woodinville, use Route 231 to/from Kirkland Transit Center and transfer to/from Route 250 to/from Bellevue, or use Route 311 and ST Express routes 532 or 535 with a transfer at NE 128th Street.
  • At Woodinville Park & Ride, use ST Express routes 522 and 535 with a transfer at UW Bothell/Cascadia College to travel to/from Bellevue.
  • At Brickyard Park & Ride, use ST Express 535 to/from Bellevue. Parking is available at Brickyard Park & Ride.
  • At NE 128th Street, use ST Express routes 532 or 535. Parking is available Kingsgate Park & Ride.

Route 268

Route 268 will be suspended. Alternative service is available using routes 269 and ST Express 545.

  • Between Bear Creek Park & Ride and downtown Seattle, use ST Express 545. Parking is available at Bear Creek Park & Ride.
  • Between NE Redmond Way (at 188th Avenue NE) and Bear Creek Park & Ride, use Route 269.

Route 301

Route 301 will be suspended. Alternative service is available using routes 346 and 348.

  • Between Shoreline and Northgate, use routes 346 or 348.
  • Between Shoreline and downtown Seattle, use RapidRide E Line. Parking is available at Aurora Village Transit Center and Shoreline Park & Ride.

Route 304

Route 304 will be suspended. Alternative service is available using routes 331, 345 and 348.

  • Between Shoreline and Northgate, use routes 331, 345 or 348. Parking is available at Shoreline Park & Ride.

Route 320

Route 320 will be suspended. Alternative service is available using routes 20, 372, ST Express 522, Link 1 Line and Route 8 at Capitol Hill Station or with Route 70 at U District Station, or with routes 40, 62, 70, RapidRide C Line, or the South Lake Union (SLU) Streetcar at Westlake Station.

  • Between Lake City and Northgate, use Route 20.
  • Between Kenmore, Bothell, Lake Forest Park and Lake City, use Route 372 or ST Express 522.
  • Between Northgate and South Lake Union, use Link 1 Line to connect with Route 8 at Capitol Hill Station or with Route 70 at U District Station, or with routes 40, 62, 70, RapidRide C Line, or SLU Streetcar at Westlake Station. Parking is available at Northgate Station.

Route 342

Route 342 will be suspended. Alternative service is available using routes 245, 250, 331, ST Express routes 535, 560, 566.

  • Between Bothell and Bellevue, use ST Express 535. Parking is available at Bothell Park & Ride.
  • At the NE 70th Street freeway station, use Route 245 to connect with Route 250.
  • Between Bellevue and Renton, use ST Express routes 560 or 566. Parking is available at Kennydale United Methodist Church.
  • Between Shoreline and Kenmore, use Route 331.
  • Faster travel times may be available by traveling via downtown Seattle depending on your point of origin and destination.

Routes with schedule changes

Routes 3, 4

Trip times will be adjusted to provide more consistent spacing between routes 3 and 4, and to provide hourly Night-Owl service.

Route 7

On Weekdays, trip times will be adjusted to better match frequency of service with rider demand.

Route 8

On Weekdays, trip times will be adjusted to better match frequency of service with rider demand.

Route 10

Route 10 will have a decrease in service due to a reduction of the Seattle Transit Measure investment in the route.

Route 20

Route 20 will see a reduction in service, operating approximately every 30 minutes during off-peak periods, and hourly at night.

Route 22

The last trip departing 35th Avenue SW & SW Roxbury Street at 9:09 p.m. will be extended to serve two additional stops along 26th Avenue SW, stop #85220 at SW 104th Street, and stop #85230 at SW 100th Street.

Route 28

Route 28 will be reduced to hourly service at night and off-peak periods on weekdays and weekends.

Routes 31, 32

On weekdays, trip times will be adjusted to provide more consistent spacing, and better match frequencies to meet rider demand between routes 31 and 32.

Route 36

On weekdays, trip times will be adjusted to better match frequencies with rider demand. To reduce the impact of reductions to Route 36, the City of Seattle is providing additional funding on this route in the PM Peak period through the Seattle Transit Measure.

Route 44

On Sunday, trip times will be adjusted to better match frequency of service with rider demand.

Route 50

The Route 50 will no longer operate the short-turn variant between Alki and SODO Station. This short-turn variant was initially created to provide additional service during the period of the West Seattle Bridge closure and was funded using Seattle Transit Measure (STM) funding. Existing service investments from STM will be redistributed to the full-length of the route between Alki and Othello Station. As a result of this action, all Route 50 trips will operate between Alki and Othello Station.

Route 73

Several trips will be deleted, Route 73 will operate approximately every 30 minutes during peak periods on weekdays, hourly during weekday off-peak periods and on weekends.

Route 79

On weekdays, Route 79 will be reduced to operate hourly between 5:25 am and 9:30 pm.

Route 107

On weekdays, to provide service to Mercer International Middle School, one southbound trip will be added arriving at Beacon & Myrtle (stop #30970) at 8:32 am, and one northbound trip will be added arriving at Beacon & Myrtle (stop #30330) at 4:02 pm.

Route 153

Route 153 will continue the long-term re-route via SW 16th Street, Oakesdale Avenue SW, and SW Grady Way, due to the closure of the Lind Avenue SW I-405 overpass.

Route 208

On weekdays, one westbound trip will be added at 5:09 am to help commuters make earlier connections at the Issaquah Transit Center. Route 208 will now serve new bus stop #64308 in front of the Oshkosh B�gosh store at the North Bend Factory Outlet Mall, replacing stop #64305, which will close.

Route 225

On weekdays, Route 225 will be reduced to hourly service during both peak and off-peak periods. Redmond Technology Station will open, and Route 225 will no longer serve the temporary stop #71339 on 156th Ave NE but will instead serve Bay 4 (stop #71354) in the Redmond Technology Station.

Routes 230, 231

On weekdays, routes 230 and 231 will be reduced to hourly service during both peak and off-peak periods.

Route 249

On weekdays, trip times will be adjusted to improve consistent trip spacing and to better align with the Bellevue High School start time. Redmond Technology Station will open, and Route 249 will no longer serve the temporary stop #71339 on 156th Avenue NE but will instead serve Bay 4 (stop #71354) in the Redmond Technology Station.

Route 255

On weekdays, service will be reduced to approximately every 30 minutes after 7:00 pm.

Route 345

On weekdays, three northbound and three southbound trips will be deleted after 6:35 pm, and Route 345 will operate approximately once an hour.

ST Express 522

Schedule times will be adjusted to improve on time performance and connections with Link 1 Line.

RapidRide F Line

RapidRide F Line will continue the long-term re-route via SW 16th Street, Oakesdale Avenue SW, and SW Grady Way, due to the closure of the Lind Avenue SW I-405 overpass.

Routes with stop changes

Route 22

The last trip departing 35th Avenue SW & SW Roxbury St at 9:09 pm will be extended to serve two additional stops along 26th Avenue SW, stop #85220 at SW 104th Street, and stop #85230 at SW 100th Street.

Route 208

ST Express 545

On Weekdays, during morning peak periods, ST Express 545 will no longer serve stop #13460 at Bellevue Avenue & E Olive St, it will instead serve a new temporary stop eastbound on Olive Way just east of Boren Avenue.

ST Express 566

Redmond Technology Station will open, and ST Express 566 to Auburn will no longer serve Bay 8 (stop #68498) on 156th Avenue NE, it will instead serve Bay 4 (stop #71345) in the Redmond Technology Station. There is no change to the northbound stop.
