On August 1, the City of Monterey Park implemented new routes and schedules for its Spirit fixed-route service. All routes have new alignments, and Route 4 has been discontinued. The Monterey Pass Road, Garvey Reservoir area, and McCaslin Park have lost Spirit service.

Meanwhile, the city is introducing the MPK Transit Express microtransit service, covering the hilly areas of the city and those that lost fixed-route coverage. Rides on microtransit are free until early September. The service is operated by Via. Riders are picked up and dropped off at virtual bus stops, but door-to-door service is available for those with mobility needs.
