AC Transit Service Changes Effective Sunday, August 8

AC Transit is projecting ridership this fall to reach approximately 80% of pre-pandemic demand. Now that the economy is gradually recovering, an expansion of services will be implemented to meet the anticipated needs of our riders accordingly. Local, and Transbay service changes going into effect on August 8, 2021 are aimed to increase the levels of convenience and accessibility for our riders, as well as, the overall reliability and efficiency of schedules provided.

Highlights of Service Changes Include:

  • Increase in Transbay service levels, including additional lines and trips
  • Resumption of Supplementary Service to Schools on August 9
  • Launch of Line 78 Pilot on August 9, timed to connect riders to/from Alameda Seaplane Ferry route during commute hours

New schedules and line maps are being updated and will be posted on the AC Transit website shortly.

When riding, please remember that although physical distancing is no longer mandated, face coverings are still required for all riders regardless of vaccination status. 19 At Fruitvale BART, Line 19 will share stops with lines 20 and 21 in the bus lane closest to the station. Other minor schedule changes.
21 Select morning and afternoon trips will serve the Harbor Bay Ferry Terminal on weekdays. Other minor schedule changes.
33, 39, 97, 217 Trips that operate school days only will resume.
51A Trips that operate school days only will resume. Other minor schedule changes.
54 Addition of two trips toward Merritt College, and four trips toward Fruitvale BART on weekdays to improve service to/from Latitude High School. Other minor schedule changes.
67 In Downtown Berkeley the bus stop on Shattuck Avenue at Center Street will close. Riders can board on Allston Way, east of Shattuck Avenue.
76 Extension of service from Hilltop Mall to serve Richmond Parkway Transit Center.
78 Launch of new pilot service from Fruitvale BART to the Seaplane Lagoon Ferry Terminal via Santa Clara Ave., Webster Street, and Ralph Appezzato Memorial Parkway. Buses are timed to meet ferry departures in the morning and ferry arrivals in the afternoon.
95 Trips that operate school days only will resume. Other minor schedule changes.
600-699 Lines that operate school days only will resume. Lines 611, 621, 623, 624, 625, 631, 654, 657, 663, 667, 671, 675, 687, and 688, which were suspended during the pandemic, are fully or partially restored. Most lines have revised schedules to accommodate changed bell times.
614 Line discontinued. Riders can take line 660 or 677.
639 Line discontinued. Riders can take Line 654 to areas along Redwood Road and 35th Avenue.
651 Line discontinued. Riders can take Line 51A.
668 Line discontinued. Riders can take Line 675.
679 Line discontinued. Riders can take Line 669.
E Limited service restoration: four trips to San Francisco in the mornings and five trips to the East Bay in the afternoons.
G Limited service restoration: four trips to San Francisco and one additional trip to the East Bay in the afternoons.
J Addition of three trips to San Francisco in the mornings, and one trip to the East Bay in the afternoon.
L Addition of two trips to the East Bay in the afternoon.
LA Addition of two trips to the East Bay in the afternoon.
NX Addition of three trips to the East Bay in the afternoon. The first morning trip will operate earlier, leaving MacArthur Boulevard & 56th Avenue at 7:05 am.
NX3 Limited service restoration: two trips to San Francisco in the morning and six trips to the East Bay in the afternoon.
OX Limited service restoration: two trips to San Francisco in the morning and four trips to the East Bay in the afternoon.
P Limited service restoration: five trips to San Francisco in the morning, and five trips to the East Bay in the afternoon.
V Limited service restoration: two trips to San Francisco in the morning, and three trips to the East Bay in the afternoon.
W Increased service with four additional trips to the East Bay in the afternoon.
Other Minor schedule changes on lines 12, 20, 40, 70, 72, 72M, 72R, 74, 86, 96, 200, 802, and NL.

Minor schedule changes move the times of bus trips earlier or later by a few minutes.
