June 2017 Service Changes
Capital Metro routinely makes changes to streamline and improve service and accommodate ridership. The changes are designed to improve the rider experience while maintaining system efficiency and expanding service. These changes will take effect June 4.
Route Adjustments Near the UT Campus
Bus routes running along 21st Street and Red River Street were previously altered due to the transformation of Speedway into a pedestrian mall on the University of Texas campus and the re-routing of Red River Street near the new Dell Medical School. Those detours, which have been in effect for more than a year, will be made permanent if this service change is approved. Bus routes that would be affected include: 18 MLK, 412 E-Bus, 640 40 Acres, 642 West Campus and 663 Lake Austin (21st Street) and 10 Red River, 20 Manor, 37 Colony Park, 100 MetroAirport, 670 Colony Park, 671 North Riverside and 672 Lakeshore (Red River).
Minor Schedule Adjustments
In an effort to continue improving overall system performance, select routes may receive minor adjustments to their schedules to improve reliability and on-time performance. Schedule adjustments would be determined by public feedback received during March, and also route performance and staff recommendations.
School-Related Adjustments
As is customary every June, UT Shuttle, E-Bus service and select trips on Local routes would transition to summer service levels. Trips would return to school-session schedules in August.
UT Shuttles
All UT Shuttles would transition from full service to summer schedules based on university calendars.
E-Bus Service
E-Bus service would be suspended during the summer session.
