Attention Riders: Service Changes Effective Sept. 4, 2018

Every four months - January, May, and September - Cherriots implements service changes based on input from customers, drivers, other Cherriots employees, and performance monitoring results. We made exciting changes at Cherriots this Sept. 4! We adjusted routes to make easier transfers at Chemeketa Community College and to provide more frequent service in southeast Salem.

Easier Transfers at Chemeketa Community College

In order to help facilitate transfers at Chemeketa Community College, we've created a new bay on the south side of Satter Drive near the intersection with Cooley Drive. Routes 3, 12, and 13 have been rerouted to serve this bay. This new bay, named Bay E, is about 400 feet away from Bays A through D, where Routes 2, 11, 10X, and 20X serve riders. This makes it much easier to transfer between routes.

In addition to serving the new bay, Route 3 now serves the Lancaster @ Satter stop on the way to the Downtown Transit Center.

Route 12 buses no longer serve Winema @ Lancaster (Bldg 52), but riders can still access that area by using the stop at Lancaster @ Winema.

Route 13 no longer serves Winema @ Lancaster (Bldg 52), but riders can still access that area by using the stop at Lancaster @ Winema. Route 13 no longer forms a loop on Winema, South Campus Loop, Fire Protection Way, 45th, and Silverton Road. The stops on Winema and South Campus Loop have been closed, while the stops on Silverton Road and 45th Avenue continue to be served by Route 12.

More Frequent Service in Southeast Salem

For September, we have modified a few routes in southeast Salem to provide more frequent service to some corridors.

Route 11-Lancaster / Verda

Route 11 has been extended south to the Marion County Correctional Facility. This extension brings 15 minute service to Lancaster Drive south of Rickey Street as well as to Aumsville Highway. Route 11 no longer serves stops on Rickey, Connecticut, and MacLeay Road. Riders can access Shopko and Winco using the Lancaster @ Rickey stop or by riding Route 4.

With the extension of Route 11, Route 24 has been discontinued since it would have provided duplicate service.

Route 4-State Street

Route 4 now provides 30 minute service throughout the day.

Route 7-Mission Street

Route 7 is now named Mission Street and has been shortened by turning around at Hawthorne Avenue. A new stop has been established on Hawthorne before the bus turns right onto Mission in order for people to get to Costco, Lowe's, and Walmart. This routing is based largely on feedback received from the public outreach for [/better A Better Cherriots]. The new routing provides 30 minute service both inbound and outbound along Mission and to Salem Hospital.

Route 6-Fairview Industrial

Route 6 is now named Fairview Industrial and operates out of Bay E at the Downtown Transit Center. Route 6 now travels down State Street and 25th Street instead of Mission Street. All of the former stops on Mission Street and the hospital are now served by Route 7.

Regional Route Schedule and Bay Changes

Route 50X has moved to Bay U at the Downtown Transit Center

This route moved from Bay S. It now shares Bay U with Route 30X.

Routes 60X and 70X have moved to Bay S at the Downtown Transit Center

This change makes room for Route 6 in Bay E.

Routes 30X, 40X, and 50X have minor schedule changes

We have adjusted the schedules slightly for these routes to help keep the bus on time.
