After a comprehensive route analysis, including valuable input from the public, Pierce Transit rolled out expanded bus service. For complete details of routes which were affected, click the links below OR check out the March 12, 2017 System Map. With buses running later at night, buses arriving more often, and more direct service, you will find more to smile about!

Route 1 6th Ave – Pacific On Weekdays, running times are improved on northbound and southbound trips on Pacific Avenue between 14th and 38th Streets. On Sundays, times are improved on southbound trips between 14th and 38th Streets.

Route 3 Lakewood–Tacoma New routing along South Tacoma Way with additional service to the SR 512 Park & Ride.

Route 4 Lakewood–South Hill New routing along 100th Street SW in Lakewood. On Weekdays, evening service is extended until 10pm. One trip is added from Lakewood Transit Center, and 2 trips are added from South Hill.

Route 10 Pearl Street Buses previously traveling on Vassault north of 46th Street now serve Pearl Street instead. On Weekdays, mid-day trips run every 30 minutes and evening trips extend through 10pm.

Route 11 Pt. Defiance New routing serves many stops previously on Route 14. On Weekdays, mid-day trips run every 30 minutes and evening trips extend through 10pm. Twelve new trips are added traveling to Point Defiance and 16 new trips are added traveling to Downtown Tacoma. Saturday running times are adjusted. On Saturdays & Sundays, a new departure time is added at 8:53am from Commerce, and at 8:45am from Point Defiance.

Route 13 N 30th St New turnaround in Proctor District: Buses traveling to N 24th & Proctor will turn left on N 26th, right on Union Avenue, right on N 21st and right on N Proctor. Saturday service is eliminated.

Route 14 Proctor District This route is eliminated. Many of former Route 14’s bus stops are now served by Route 11.

Route 15 Downtown to Defiance Trolley Pierce Transit’s NEW demonstration trolley service runs from June 2 through September 3, operating between downtown Tacoma and Point Defiance Park via Ruston Way.

Route 16 North End Bus route is adjusted to serve more of N 26th and Pearl Streets. Route no longer travels on N 11th nor Stevens. Twelve new trips are added to TCC and to Downtown; Weekday trips are now every 30 minutes until 6pm, and run through 10pm. Weekends: Departure times are adjusted from Commerce Street.

Route 28 S 12th St Weekday service is extended through 10pm and mid-day frequency will be improved to 30 minutes. More service! Six new trips to Downtown Tacoma and seven new trips to TCC are added.

Route 41 S 56th St–Salishan New routing! From Commerce, buses travel to East 56th Street via the Salishan neighborhood then continue to the Tacoma Mall Transit Center, no longer serving the 72nd St Transit Center. Weekdays: Mid-day trips run every 30 minutes with service extending through 10pm. More service added! Five new trips to the Tacoma Mall and 6 new trips to Downtown Tacoma. Weekends: Short trips from TDS now begin at Commerce and all trips have new departure times from Commerce.

Route 42 McKinley Ave Weekdays: Improved daytime service to 30 minutes. Evening service extended through 10pm. More service added! Fifteen trips to Downtown Tacoma and 15 trips to 72nd St Transit Center. Weekends: Departure times are adjusted to leave Commerce 10 minutes earlier.

Route 45 Yakima Mid-day trips on Weekdays are improved to 30 minutes, with extended service through 10pm. Added service! Fifteen new trips are added to Parkland and 15 new trips are added to Downtown Tacoma.

Route 48 Sheridan–M St New routing! Weekdays: Mid-day service runs every 30 minutes, with extended service through 10pm. Five new trips are added to Downtown Tacoma and six new trips are added to Lakewood Transit Center. Route 51 Union Avenue This route is eliminated. See Route 206 for service in the Springbrook neighborhood.

Route 52 TCC–Tacoma Mall Weekdays: Service is extended through 10pm, 2 new trips are added to Tacoma Mall Transit Center and 1 new trip is added to TCC Transit Center. Sundays: Trip departures from TCC and from Tacoma Mall are adjusted. One new trip is added from TCC and 1 new trip is added from Tacoma Mall.

Route 53 University Place New routing! Buses do not serve Downtown Tacoma. Weekdays: Service is extended through 10pm with 30 minute frequency until 6pm. More service added: 14 new trips to Tacoma Mall Transit Center and to TCC Transit Center. Weekends: Departure times are adjusted from TCC and Tacoma Mall.

Route 54 S 38th Street–Portland Ave New routing! Buses now travel between 72nd St Transit Center and Tacoma Mall, via Portland Avenue and S 38th St. Weekdays: Improved daytime trips every 30 minutes with extended service through 10pm. Sundays: 2 new trips are added to and from Tacoma Mall Transit Center.

Route 55 Tacoma Mall Weekdays: Service is extended through 10pm. Two new trips added from Parkland Transit Center and 1 new trip from Tacoma Mall Transit Center. Sundays: New trips are added from Parkland TC at 8:45am, and 1 trip at 6:15pm from Tacoma Mall TC. Route 56 S 56th St This route is eliminated. Many of former Route 56’s bus stops are now served by Route 41 or 54.

Route 57 Union–S 19th St–Hilltop Weekdays: Service is extended through 10pm. Two new trips to Downtown Tacoma and 1 new trip to Tacoma Mall are added. Weekends: Two trips are added to Tacoma Mall.

Route 101 Gig Harbor Trolley Seasonal service returns this summer from June 1 through September 4. While the trolley operates, watch for detours on Route 100. As summer approaches, visit piercetransit.org or pick up a Route 100 Detour Rider Alert brochure for details.

Route 202 72nd St Weekdays: Evening service is extended through 10pm.

Route 206 Pacific Hwy–Tillicum–Madigan New routing in the Springbrook neighborhood. Weekdays: Improved daytime service to every 30 minutes, evening service is extended through 10pm. More service added! Eight new trips to Lakewood Transit Center and 6 trips to Madigan Hospital. Sundays: Service frequency is improved to every 40 minutes.

Route 212 Steilacoom Weekdays: Evening service is extended through 10pm. Two new trips added: 1 to Lakewood Transit Center and 1 to Steilacoom.

Route 214 Washington Weekdays: Evening service is extended through 10pm. Three new trips added to Lakewood TC, and 1 new trip added to Pierce College.

Route 300 S Tacoma Way This route is eliminated. See Route 3 for service along South Tacoma Way. JBLM’s GO Transit service operates from SR 512 Park & Ride to JBLM, for passengers with appropriate identification. For information visit http://jblmmwr.com/golewismcchord.

Pierce Transit and JBLM GO Transit are working to start a new GO Transit Route 7 service from Lakewood Transit Center to McChord Commissary. As a temporary connection until that service is approved, the on-demand GO Transit Connection will operate from Lakewood Transit Center to McChord Commissary. Route 400 Puyallup–Downtown Tacoma Weekdays: Trips are added to Puyallup at 2:48pm and to Downtown Tacoma at 3:45pm.

Route 402 Meridian Weekdays: Improved daytime service to every 30 minutes. Added 7 new trips to Federal Way and 7 new trips to Puyallup and South Hill.

Route 500 Federal Way Weekdays: improved mid-day service to every 30 minutes and extended evening service through 11pm. Seven new trips to Federal Way and 6 new trips to Downtown Tacoma are added; other times have been adjusted.

Route 501 Milton–Federal Way Weekdays: Departure times are adjusted.
