Riverside Transit Agency 9-9-2018

September 9, the Riverside Transit Agency will make several schedule and route changes to boost performance, enhance connections and expand service into new areas. Some of the highlights include the extension of Route 61 from Menifee to Perris, new RapidLink hours of operation, and additional afternoon service from Disneyland aboard Route 200. Plus, look for new weekend service on routes 30, 31, 33, 42, 61, 74 and 79, and a new Route 9. A variety of unpopular trips will be eliminated for a more efficient system. RAPIDLINK: To better match customer demand, the hours of operation will be adjusted by one hour, beginning mornings from 6:30 a.m. (instead of the current 5:30 a.m.) to 8:30 a.m. and afternoons from 1:30 p.m. (instead of the current 2:30 p.m.) to 5:30 p.m. The route will continue to serve stops every 15 minutes during hours of operation.

ROUTE 1: The following trips will be discontinued due to low demand: the 3:51 a.m. weekday eastbound trip departing the Galleria at Tyler, the 4:28 a.m. weekday eastbound trip departing 6th and Smith, and the 5:01 a.m. weekday westbound trip departing UCR. Other weekday trips will be adjusted to accommodate the discontinued trips or to improve reliability and connections.

ROUTE 3: Due to low demand, weekend service frequency will be expanded to every 110 minutes instead of the current 60 minutes. Also, the portion of the route south of the Corona Transit Center to Belle & 10th will be discontinued on weekends due to low usage. Route 1 service would still be available weekends along 6th Street. Also, the following trips will be discontinued due to low usage: The 9:34 p.m. weekday northbound trip departing the Corona Transit Center, the 9:51 p.m. weekday southbound trip departing Amazon Eastvale, the 6:42 a.m. weekend northbound trip departing Corona Transit Center and the 6:40 a.m. weekend southbound trip departing Amazon Eastvale.

ROUTE 8: The weekday schedule will be adjusted to connect with routes 9 and 23. Due to low demand, weekend service frequency will be expanded to every 70 minutes instead of the current 60 minutes. Also, the 6:46 a.m. weekend counter-clockwise and 6:51 a.m. weekend clockwise trips departing Palomar and Central will be discontinued due to low usage.

ROUTE 9: This new route will operate seven days a week between Perris and Lake Elsinore along portions of Highway 74 currently served by Route 22 (which Route 9 will replace). Major stops will include the Perris Station Transit Center, the community of Meadowbrook and Lake Elsinore Outlet Center.

ROUTE 10: The 9:05 p.m. weekday eastbound trip departing Galleria at Tyler will be discontinued due to low demand. Weekday afternoon trips have been adjusted to meet bell times at area schools.

ROUTE 11: The 9:40 p.m. weekday counter-clockwise trip departing Moreno Valley Mall will be discontinued due to low demand.

ROUTE 12: The 6:40 a.m. weekday westbound trip departing Orange and Columbia in Riverside will be discontinued due to low demand.

ROUTE 13: These trips will be discontinued due to low demand: the 5:05 a.m. weekday eastbound trip departing Market and 10th, the 4:28 p.m. and 5:17 p.m. weekday eastbound trips departing Riverside City College, and the 5:37 a.m. and 6:04 p.m. weekday westbound trips departing Riverside-Hunter Park/ UCR Metrolink Station.

ROUTE 14: The 5:19 a.m. weekday eastbound trip departing University and Brockton will be discontinued due to low demand.

ROUTE 15: The 8:46 p.m. weekday eastbound trip departing Merced and Magnolia, and the 3:42 a.m. and 9:33 p.m. weekday westbound trips departing the Riverside Downtown Metrolink Station will be discontinued due to low demand. Other weekday trips will be adjusted to accommodate the discontinued trips and to improve reliability and connections.

ROUTE 16: The following trips will be discontinued due to low demand: the 5:03 a.m. weekday eastbound trip departing UCR, the 4:20 a.m. weekday westbound trip departing Moreno Valley Mall, the 5:51 a.m. and 8:13 p.m. Saturday eastbound trips departing UCR, the 6:57 a.m. Sunday eastbound trip departing UCR, and the 6:14 a.m. Sunday westbound trip departing the Moreno Valley Mall.

ROUTE 18: The following trips will be discontinued due to low demand: the 9:44 p.m. weekday northbound trip departing Moreno Valley College, and the 5:52 a.m. and 8:59 p.m. weekday southbound trips departing Moreno Valley Mall. On weekends, the 6:37 a.m. northbound trip and 7:26 a.m. southbound trip departing Moreno Valley Mall will be discontinued.

ROUTE 19: The 4:25 a.m. and 4:45 a.m. weekday southbound trips departing Perris and Ramona Expressway will be discontinued due to low demand.

ROUTE 19F: Due to low ridership, weekend service between the Perris Station Transit Center and Perris Fairgrounds will no longer operate. The route will continue daily service to the fairgrounds during the Southern California Fair (October 6 thru 14, 2018).

ROUTE 20: The following trips will be discontinued due to low demand: the 3:51 a.m., 9:44 a.m., 12:48 p.m. and 5:09 p.m. weekday eastbound trips departing Magnolia and Elizabeth. Also, the 6:25 a.m., 11:16 a.m., 2:23 p.m., 6:53 p.m. and 10:21 p.m. weekday westbound trips departing Iris and Lasselle will be discontinued. Other weekday trips will be adjusted to accommodate the discontinued trips or to improve reliability and connections. The weekend schedule will be adjusted to improve reliability.

ROUTE 21: The 4:40 a.m. and 8:15 p.m. weekday southbound trips departing Banana and Cherry will be discontinued due to low demand.

ROUTE 22: One of RTA’s longest routes stretching from Lake Elsinore to Perris to Riverside, Route 22 will be divided into two separate routes to boost on-time performance and connectivity. Under the plan, RTA would maintain Route 22 service between the Perris Station Transit Center and Riverside. The section between Perris and Lake Elsinore along Highway 74 would become part of a new Route 9.

ROUTE 23: The 5:20 a.m. weekday northbound trip departing County Center, and the 7:45 p.m. weekday southbound trip departing Palomar and Central will be discontinued due to low demand. On weekends, the 6:52 a.m. northbound trip departing County Center and 6:26 p.m. southbound trip departing Palomar and Central will be discontinued. RTA will also adjust weekend service frequency to every 70 minutes instead of the current 60 minutes due to low ridership.

ROUTE 24: RTA will improve weekend service frequency to every 70 minutes instead of the current 80 minutes to improve connections with Route 23. The 6:21 a.m. and 6:49 a.m. weekday northbound trips departing Temecula Valley Hospital will be combined into one departure time at 6:26 a.m. On weekends, the 7:45 a.m. northbound trip departing Temecula Stage Stop, the Saturday 6:30 p.m. northbound trip departing Temecula Valley Hospital and the 6:36 p.m. southbound trip departing County Center will be discontinued due to low ridership.

ROUTE 26: The 3:26 p.m. weekday eastbound trip departing Moreno Valley March Field Metrolink Station to Moreno Valley Mall will depart at 3:29 p.m. to improve connections with other routes.

ROUTE 27: The 4 a.m. and 4:18 a.m. weekday northbound trips departing Lincoln and Florida will be combined into one trip departing at 4:08 a.m. The 8:53 p.m. Saturday northbound trip departing Lincoln and Florida will be discontinued due to low ridership. Selected other trips weekdays, Saturdays, and Sundays will have minor changes to improve on time performance or connections with other routes.

ROUTE 29: The 4:33 a.m. weekday westbound trip departing the Riverside Downtown Metrolink Station will be discontinued due to low demand.

ROUTE 30: On weekdays, the 4 a.m. west loop trip departing Weston and Carter, the 4:28 a.m. and 7:35 p.m. west loop trips departing Perris Station Transit Center, and the 4:11 a.m. and 7:18 p.m. east loop trips departing Perris Station Transit Center will be discontinued due to low demand. Due to rising demand from the May Ranch area, RTA will add Sunday service to the east loop. Saturday west loop service will be discontinued due to low ridership and because the area is served by routes 22 and 74.

ROUTE 31: On weekdays, the 8:38 p.m. and 9:49 p.m. northbound trips departing Hemet Valley Mall, and the 4:43 a.m. and 5:51 a.m. southbound trips departing Sun Lakes at Village will be discontinued due to low demand. RTA will also add an additional weekday southbound trip at 8:42 p.m. departing the Moreno Valley Mall to Beaumont, Banning, San Jacinto and Hemet to improve service to the Riverside University Medical Center. Weekend service will be expanded to include the Beaumont to Moreno Valley segment, which is currently served only on weekdays. Weekend service frequency will be adjusted to every 90 minutes instead of the current 60 minutes between Hemet and Beaumont due to low ridership.

ROUTE 32: The 8:46 p.m. weekday northbound trip departing Hemet Valley Mall, and the 8:40 p.m. and 9:50 p.m. southbound trips departing MSJC San Jacinto will be discontinued due to low demand.

ROUTE 33: The route will provide new morning and afternoon weekday service to Tahquitz High School in Hemet, including an extra 6 a.m. westbound trip from Stanford & Stetson to the Hemet Valley Mall. RTA will also introduce weekend service with frequency every 110 minutes. The 7:04 p.m. weekday eastbound trip departing Hemet Valley Mall will be discontinued due to low demand.

ROUTE 41: On weekdays, the 5:03 a.m. and 6:10 p.m. eastbound trips departing Mead Valley Community Center, and the 5:09 a.m. westbound trip departing Riverside University Medical Center will be discontinued due to low demand. RTA will also adjust weekend service frequency to every 105 minutes instead of the current 60 minutes due to low demand.

ROUTE 42: RTA will introduce Sunday service with frequency every 110 minutes, matching the existing Saturday service which will be improved for better connections with other routes. On weekdays, the 7:26 p.m. westbound trip departing Soboba Casino will be discontinued due to low demand.

ROUTE 49: On weekends, the 6:25 a.m. westbound trip departing Riverside Downtown Metrolink Station will be discontinued due to low demand.

ROUTE 51: The weekday schedule will be adjusted to improve on-time performance.

ROUTE 55: The weekday schedule will be adjusted to improve on-time performance.

ROUTE 61: The route will be expanded from Menifee to the Perris Station Transit Center for enhanced connections with other RTA routes and Metrolink trains. RTA will also add Sunday service, which, like the existing Saturday service, will operate every 80 minutes. Due to low ridership, the 4:24 a.m. and 4:52 a.m. weekday northbound trips departing Los Alamos and Hancock will be discontinued. On Saturdays, the 6:09 a.m. and 6:25 p.m. northbound trips departing County Center will also be discontinued.

ROUTE 74: On weekdays, the 4:55 a.m. and 10:20 p.m. eastbound trips departing the Perris Station Transit Center, and the 3:37 a.m. westbound trips departing the Hemet Valley Mall and MSJC San Jacinto, respectively, will be discontinued due to low demand. On Saturdays, the 6:35 a.m. eastbound trip departing the Perris Station Transit Center will be discontinued. RTA will also introduce Sunday service, which, like the existing Saturday service, will operate every 80 minutes.

ROUTE 79: On weekdays, the northbound trips departing 3:14 p.m. and 3:39 p.m. from Temecula Stage Stop 6th & Front will be combined into one trip departing at 3:22 p.m. On Saturdays, the 6:30 a.m. northbound trip departing County Center and 6:14 p.m. southbound trip departing Hemet Valley Mall will be discontinued due to low demand. RTA will also add Sunday service, which, like the existing Saturday service, will operate every 90 minutes.

ROUTE 200: Due to rising demand, RTA will add a new eastbound weekday trip that departs Disneyland at 4:08 p.m. to Riverside and San Bernardino.

ROUTE 202: On weekdays, the 4:24 a.m. and 4:13 p.m. southbound trips departing Mulligans Murrieta, and the 5:39 a.m. and 6:04 p.m. northbound trips departing the Oceanside Transit Center will be discontinued due to low demand.

Route 204: The Country Village Park-And-Ride timepoint will move to the nearby Country Village and Country Club bus stop for enhanced safety during layovers. Buses will continue to use the Country Village Park-And-Ride bus stop but it will no longer be a timepoint.

ROUTE 206: On weekdays, the 3:57 p.m. northbound trip departing Promenade Mall, and the 5 a.m. southbound trip departing Corona Transit Center will be discontinued due to low demand.

ROUTE 208: The 4:03 a.m., 5:01 a.m., 2:32 p.m. and 4:20 p.m. weekday northbound trips departing the Promenade Mall, and the 5:13 p.m. and 6:44 p.m. weekday southbound trips departing Vine Street Layover will be discontinued due to low demand.

ROUTE 210: The 3:40 a.m. and 4:10 a.m. weekday westbound trips departing Fir and Nason will be combined into one trip departing at 4 a.m.

ROUTE 212: The following trips will be removed due to low ridership: the 5:24 a.m. and 6:03 p.m. weekday eastbound trips departing Vine Street Layover, the 7:50 p.m. eastbound trip departing the Perris Station Transit Center, and the 4:10 a.m., 4:58 a.m. 3:32 p.m. and 4:45 p.m. weekday westbound trips departing MSJC San Jacinto.

NEW BOARDING BAYS: Buses will stop at new boarding bays at the Perris Station Transit Center.
