About the route

The AV Antelope Valley Line is a Metrolink line running from Lancaster in the high desert region to Downtown Los Angeles, passing through Palmdale and Santa Clarita on tracks owned by Metrolink. The full journey takes about 2 hours and 10 minutes. Service operates all day, seven days a week, excluding some holidays. Some trips only run between Los Angeles and Santa Clarita at Vista Canyon. The AVTA North County TRANSporter bus provides additional weekday midday service between Santa Clarita (at Newhall Station) and Palmdale. In Lancaster, bus connections are available to the Central Valley and up into Owens Valley.

The line to Santa Clarita was one of the initial routes offered when Metrolink began service in 1992. Four days after the 1994 Northridge Earthquake, the line was extended to Lancaster on an expedited basis to provide an alternative to the damaged highway infrastructure.
