WestCAT Route J
About the route
WestCat's J service connects Pinole and Hercules with BART in El Cerrito, with buses alternating between serving Hilltop Mall and the Richmond Parkway Transit Center. Trips to Hilltop are designated as JL, while those to Richmond Parkway Transit Center are designated as JR. Both JL and JR trips serve local stops along San Pablo Avenue (between Hercules Transit Center and Richmond Parkway). The service uses the carpool lanes on the I-80 corridor with a direct ramp to the street near the BART station. Other routes, like JPX and JX, provide faster, more direct service from Hercules and Pinole to BART without stopping at Hilltop Mall or Richmond Parkway Transit Center.
Some weekday night trips and all weekend trips extend north to serve Willow Ave.
The J series routes were originally a part of the "BART Express" bus service operated by BART.
