22nd Street is a popular station for San Francisco residents to board trains to the Peninsula and the South Bay.

Station entrances

  • Iowa St south of 22nd St (to northbound platform only, no ticket vending machines)
  • 22nd St between Pennsylvania and Iowa (to southbound platform and ticket vending machines)

Use the 22nd St overpass to cross from one platform to the other.

Caltrain

Schedules and fares

On weekdays, most morning peak-hour southbound trains and afternoon peak-hour northbound trains (including Baby Bullets) serve this station. At other times, hourly service is provided.

On weekends, all trains serve this station.

Paying the fare

This station is in fare zone 1.

Buy your ticket from Caltrain ticket machines located on the southbound platform.

10-ride ticket validators are located adjacent to all ticket machines.

There's no ticket machine nor validator on the northbound platform.

Boarding the train

For northbound trains to San Francisco, board trains on the northbound platform by Iowa Street.

For southbound trains to San Jose/Gilroy, board trains on the southbound platform.

To get from one platform to another, exit the platform to 22nd Street and walk over to the other side.

Muni Metro

Muni Metro T Third Street line runs two blocks away from the 22nd Street Station. The nearest T Third Street stop is 20th Street Station on Third Street and 20th Street.

Parking

There's no designated commuter parking at the station. Free on-street parking may be available in the neighborhood.
