The Richmond - San Rafael Bridge is the only road link directly between Marin County and the East Bay.


The current base toll is $4, charged in the westbound direction. Carpool vehicles with 3 or more persons can cross the bridge free on weekdays between 5am - 10am and 3pm - 6pm.

Bikes and pedestrians

The bridge is closed to pedestrian and bicycle traffic.

Transit Over the Bridge

  • Golden Gate Transit 40/42 provides bus connections between San Rafael in Marin County with Richmond and El Cerrito in the East Bay. All Golden Gate Transit buses can carry bicycles.
