Tower City-Public Square Station
Tower City-Public Square Station is the main downtown station for the RTA rail system and a key transfer point to buses. The platforms are located in the basement of the Tower City Center Mall.
The Tower City Center was known as the Cleveland Union Terminal when it was first built. Tracks and platforms at the basement level served regional interurban trains and intercity trains. Intercity trains left the depot and interurban service was overtaken by the RTA.
Points of interest
All trains serve the platforms in the basement. The Red Line heavy rail has separate platforms and faregates from the lines. The platform entrances/faregates are located across from each other in the basement concourse.
Red Line trains stop at the high level platforms on the west side of the concourse. Passengers need to pass through the faregates with a valid ticket, farecard, or pass when entering or exiting the Red Line platforms. Tickets can be purchased from ticket vending machines in the basement outside the faregates.
Blue, Green, Waterfront lines
Selected inbound Green and Blue line trains continue to the Waterfront, and trains from the Waterfront continue east (outbound) as either the Green or Blue Line. Other Blue and Green line trains that do not continue to the Waterfront terminate service and change direction at the center track.
