Caltrain is a regional rail system serving San Francisco, San Jose, Gilroy and cities in between.

Caltrain web site

Express and local trains operate throughout the day on weekays between San Francisco and San Jose. Limited service from Gilroy is provided on weekdays.

On weekends, local trains operates on an hourly basis between San Francisco and San Jose.

Riding Caltrain

Before boarding the trains, buy your train ticket from a Caltrain ticket machine. Fares on Caltrain are determined by the number of fares zone you plan to travel.

Caltrain has one of the most generous onboard bicycle policies in the country. See Caltrain bicycle access for details.

Free shuttles are available at many suburban Caltrain stations to nearby employers.
