Sounder

Sounder is a commuter rail system serving Pierce, King, and Snohomish counties. It is consisted of two lines from the King Street Station in Downtown Seattle. Sounder connects with Central Link and Tacoma Link light rail lines along with Amtrak.

The system is consisted of two lines:

Tacoma-Seattle

Everett-Seattle

Sounder trains only operate during weekday peak hours (morning to Seattle, afternoon from Seattle) as well as before and after weekend Mariners, Seahawks, and Huskies games.

How to take Sounder

Before boarding the trains, buy your train ticket from a ticket machine or use an ORCA card. Fares are determined by the distance you plan to travel. Sounder uses the proof of payment system and passengers caught without a valid ticket or pass are subject to eviction and/or citation.

Sounder trains allow 4 bikes per car. Bike storage area is located near the door with fold down seats. Use the velcro straps to secure the bicycle. Bicyclists can also stand and hold on with their bikes.

Disabled access

Sounder is accessible to people with disabilities at all stations. Disabled riders should wait on top of the mini-high platform. To board those trains, conductors will deploy a ramp to bridge the gap between the vehicle and the mini-high platform.
