VTA accepts cash and offers various passes and tokens.

List of monthly pass and token vendors

All types of tokens and monthly passes are available at the VTA Customer Service Center in downtown San Jose and at the VTA administrative offices at 3331 North First Street in San Jose.

Day pass can be purchased onboard buses and light rail stations. 8-hour light rail pass is available at all light rail stations.

Light rail

Light rail is a proof of payment system. A valid one way ticket is good for transferring between light rail lines.

Tokens

VTA offers tokens for local adult and youth day passes. They are sold in a package of 5. Tokens cannot be used for fare upgrades or substituted for cash.
