Rapid Route 225 provides all-day express service between Otay Mesa and Downtown San Diego. At Otay Mesa, the bus stops near the border crossing and proceeds north via SR-125, a toll highway. In the Otay Ranch area, the bus leaves the tollway and enters an off-street dedicated transitway with two stops. It then transitions into a dedicated median transitway on East Palomar Street with three stops, ending half a mile from I-805. The bus continues on I-805 north towards downtown, using HOV lanes. Closer to downtown, it can operate on the freeway shoulder during rush hours. In downtown, the bus runs on Broadway and serves street stops. The route was first launched in 2018 between East Palomar Station and Downtown. It was later extended to Otay Mesa in January 2019 following the completion of the South Bay Rapid project and the transitway in Chula Vista.
