St. James Station is one of three stations in the Downtown San Jose transit mall. All northbound transit traffic run on 1st St and all southbound traffic run on 2nd St.

VTA Light Rail

Ticket machines are available at the north and south ends of each platform. A Clipper Card reader is located on the front end of each platform. Riders can purchase paper tickets or new Clipper cards from the ticket machines at this station. Riders with a Clipper card, contactless debit or credit card, or a mobile device with Apple Pay or Google Pay should tap their card or device at a VTA Clipper reader. All riders must have a valid paper ticket or a tapped card or mobile device onboard the Light Rail, and fare inspectors may check for fares.

This station features platforms on both 1st (northbound trains) and 2nd streets (southbound trains). A mid-block walkway through the park connects both platforms.
