The San Francisco - Oakland Bay Bridge is a major road link between San Francisco and Oakland.

The current base toll is $4, charged in the westbound direction. Carpool vehicles with 3 or more persons can cross the bridge free on weekdays between 5am - 10am and 3pm - 7pm.

Bikes and pedestrians

Currently, the bridge is closed to pedestrian and bicycle traffic. However, transit links are available for pedestrians and bicyclists to travel across the Bay. In addition, Caltrans Bay Bridge Bicycle Shuttle carries bicyclists and their bikes over the Bay Bridge during weekday commute hours.

Transit

Over the Bridge

  • AC Transit provides 24-hour bus connections between Downtown San Francisco and various points in the East Bay. All AC Transit buses can carry bicycles.
  • Muni's 108-Treasure Island bus provides 24-hour transit connection between San Francisco and Treasure Island. (There's no direct transit between Treasure Island and the East Bay.)

Same corridor

  • BART provides frequent train service between San Francisco and the East Bay through the Transbay Tube. BART permits bicycles on board except on designated trains during weekday peak hours.
