The Chinatown in San Francisco is considered the first and the largest Chinese community outside Asia. The neighborhood is served by a number of transit routes. On street parking is difficult and off-street garages are often packed especially on the weekends.

Bus - Muni

All Cable car lines serve Chinatown:

BART and Muni Metro

BART and Metro riders can transfer to Muni buses or cable cars for a short ride into Chinatown:

Embarcadero Station > 1
Embarcadero Station > California cable car
Montgomery Station > 9X, 30, or 45 (return buses from Chinatown serve Powell Station instead.)
Powell Station > Powell-Hyde or Powell-Mason cable car

Caltrain

Muni buses provide direction connection from Caltrain to Chinatown:

4th and King Station > 30 or 45


Ferries

Transfer to Muni from either the Ferry Building or Pier 41 to Chinatown:

Ferry Building > 12
Pier 41 > Walk 1 block south to Powell Street by North Point > 9X
