San Mateo - Hayward Bridge links San Mateo and Foster City on the mid-Peninsula with Hayward in the East Bay.

Currently, the San Mateo - Hayward Bridge is closed to pedestrian and bicycle traffic. However, transit links are available for pedestrians and bicyclists to travel across the Bay.

Transit Over the Bridge

  • AC Transit M line provides bus connections between Hayward and San Mateo County. All AC Transit buses can carry bicycles.

Transit Alternatives

  • BART provides all-day train service between the East Bay and Millbrae via San Francisco. SamTrans routes 390 and 391, as well as Caltrain serve San Mateo and connect with BART at Millbrae Station.
