Union Square

Union Square is a regional shopping district in San Francisco. Unlike most malls, Union Square provides a big-city downtown shopping experience. Parking in the area is not free, but is served by a number of transit routes.


Neighborhood guide


BART and Muni Metro

Powell Station serves the Union Square shopping district. It is only 2 to 3 blocks from the Union Square park itself.


Historic streetcars

F-Market and Wharves streetcar stops on Market Street by 4th Street and by 5th Street.


Cable cars

Cable car lines that stop at Powell Station serve Union Square:

Passengers may also board or disembark the cable cars at flag stops along Powell in Union Square.


Bus - Muni

These routes run north of Market Street with stops in the Union Square shopping area:

Muni provides direct connection from Caltrain to the Union Square area:

4th and King Station > 30 or 45

Ferries

Transfer to Muni from either the Ferry Building or Pier 41 to the Union Square area:

Pier 41 > Walk 1 block south to Beach and Stockton > F-Market and Wharves streetcar
