AC Transit Route F

From Transit.Wiki
🚍 Adeline: Downtown Berkeley (Hearst and Shattuck) - San Francisco
7 days a week. Holiday service varies.

About the route

Operating between Berkeley and San Francisco via Emeryville, Route F is one of three AC Transit transbay routes providing service 7 days a week. It travels over the Bay Bridge. While it charges a transbay fare, trips within the East Bay are allowed with a local fare. If boarding a SF bound bus with Clipper for a local trip, inform the driver so the proper fare is charged.

The route forms a loop around the UC Berkeley campus. For midday weekday and all weekend trips, the SF-bound bus starts on the north side of the campus, makes a loop, then continues, while the Berkeley-bound bus does not make a loop. For weekday peak trips, the Berkeley-bound bus makes a loop and terminates on the south side of the campus, and the SF-bound bus does not make a loop.

The F route dates back to before the formation of AC Transit when it was an interurban rail line, part of the Key System. While the route in Berkeley parallels BART, it offers direct service between Emeryville and San Francisco.
