About the route

The VC Ventura County Line is a Metrolink line from Ventura to Los Angeles through Simi Valley and the San Fernando Valley. Some trips only run between LA Union and either Chatsworth or Moorpark Station. Additional service along the corridor is provided by Amtrak's Pacific Surfliner, which serves most of the stops.

The Rail 2 Rail program allows Metrolink and Surfliner monthly pass holders, along with 10-ride Surfliner ticket holders, to ride on either train between valid station pairs (blackout dates apply). All Metrolink tickets are accepted on Surfliner trains (except in the business class section) between Ventura and LA Union stations (blackout dates apply). Amtrak rules on bicycles and service animals apply on Amtrak trains that accept Metrolink tickets.

The Ventura County Line from Moorpark was one of the original Metrolink lines offered when the agency began service in 1992. The line was extended to Oxnard on April 4, 1994, nearly three months after the Northridge Earthquake, as a recovery measure.
