About the route

Sound Transit Link 1 Line is a light rail line running between Federal Way and Lynnwood via Sea-Tac Airport, Downtown Seattle, and the University of Washington. The line largely parallels the I-5 freeway and operates underground in Downtown Seattle and north through the University of Washington. The first segment, between Downtown Seattle and Tukwila, opened for service in July 2009, with service extended to Sea-Tac in December 2009. In 2016, the line was extended north to the University of Washington. In 2018, it was extended south to Angle Lake. The line was further extended north to Northgate in 2021 and Lynnwood in 2024. The latest southward extension to Federal Way opened in 2025.

Link trains run run every 8 minutes during peak hours and 10 during daytime and 15 minutes during night hours. Service on weekends and holidays runs every 10 minutes. This line uses Proof of payment fare system and the fare is $3 regardless of distance traveled.
