Silver Line operates on El Monte Busway and Harbor Transitway, with on-street alignment in Downtown Los Angeles and San Pedro. This line charges a premium fare over the regular express bus fare (See schedule for fare). Unlike other Metro Rail and Orange Line service, fare is paid onboard like other regular bus routes.

Along Harbor Transitway, Silver Line 910 trips (operate all day) serve all stops. Silver Line Express 950X trips (run during weekday peak hours only) skip all stops on Harbor Transitway except Harbor Freeway Station. 910 and 950X buses serve all stops in Downtown Los Angeles and along El Monte Transitway.
