The Chinatown in San Francisco is considered the first and the largest Chinese community outside Asia. The neighborhood is served by a number of transit routes. On street parking is difficult and off-street garages are often packed especially on the weekends.

Bus - Muni

Cable cars

All Cable car lines serve Chinatown:

From BART and Muni Metro

BART and Metro riders can transfer to Muni buses or cable cars for a short ride into Chinatown:

  2. Embarcadero Station > California Cable Car
  3. Montgomery Station > 9X, 30, or 45 (return buses from Chinatown serve Powell Station instead.)
  4. Powell Station > Powell-Hyde or Powell-Mason cable car

From Caltrain

Muni buses provide direct connection from Caltrain to Chinatown:

  1. 4th & King Station > 30 or 45

Ferries
