Fremont Station
Fremont BART Station is located in central Fremont, a city incorporated in 1956 from a merger of local towns. For the first 45 years of BART, Fremont was the system's southern terminus, featuring crowded parking lots and serving as a transfer point for buses to San Jose. For decades, the station's ridership ranked among the top, just below those of San Francisco, and downtown Oakland and Berkeley. Since the line extended further south and due to the COVID pandemic, Fremont Station now has only a fraction of its previous ridership, yet it still surpasses any of the stations further south.
