Montgomery Station is in the heart of the San Francisco's Financial District. This station, along with Embarcadero Station, are the most used stations in the whole BART system. Muni Metro and BART systems share the same concourse but do not share platforms. They have separate faregates and station agents.

Ticket machines for BART are located in the underground station concourse. Some ticket types are sold at the Transit Store, also on the concourse level. Muni Fast Pass is accepted for rides anywhere between this station and Balboa Park Station.

This station features center platforms.

Platform 1: to Daly City, to Millbrae, to SFO (and Millbrae on nights and weekends).

Platform 2: to East Bay.

Bicycle restrictions

Weekdays approximately 7:10 to 9:05 am and 4:10 to 6:30 pm, bicycles are not allowed to board at this station.

Lines 9X, 30, 45, and 91 stop on 3rd Street in the northbound direction, and 4th Street in the southbound direction. Powell Station is closer to the 4th Street bus stop.

F-Market & Wharves street cars stop along Market Street. Board streetcars on boarding islands in the middle of Market St by 2nd St (to Castro), by New Montgomery (to Fisherman's Wharf) and 3rd St.
