24 hour service.

About the route

The 5 Fulton provides local bus service between Ocean Beach and Downtown SF via Fulton, McAllister, and Market. It runs along the north edge of Golden Gate Park and serves USF, Western Addition, and Civic Center. Market Street Cable Railway built the route as a cable car line in 1883, rebuilt it as a streetcar line in 1906, and under Muni's ownership, switched to buses in 1948.

During weekday daytime, when the 5R-Fulton Rapid operates, this route only runs between 8th Avenue and Civic Center/7th & Market, with 5R providing local service on Fulton west of 8th Ave and on Market Street. This route serves Fulton west of 8th Avenue and on Market Street at night and on weekends when 5R isn't running. During overnight hours, the route begins and ends service at 4th Street in Downtown.
