About the route

The 5 Fulton provides local service between Ocean Beach and Downtown SF via Fulton, McAllister, and Market. It runs along the north edge of Golden Gate Park and serves USF, Western Addition, and Civic Center. The route started as a streetcar line in 1906 and switched to buses in 1948.

During weekday daytime, when the 5R-Fulton Rapid operates, this route only runs between 8th Avenue and Downtown, with 5R providing local service on Fulton west of 8th Ave. This route serves Fulton west of 8th Avenue at night and on weekends when 5R isn't running. During overnight hours, the route begins and ends service at 4th Street in Downtown.
