Embarcadero is one of two BART stations in the city's Financial District. It is within a few blocks from Transbay Terminal and the Ferry Building for additional bus and ferry connections.

Clipper customer service kiosk, located in the underground station concourse, allows riders to pick up a new card or add value to an existing card, exchange a damaged or defective card, or get a personalized senior or youth card. Muni Metro and BART share the same concourse but do not share platforms. They have separate faregates and station agents.
