About the route

CTA's 'L' Red Line provides rail service between the North Side and South Side of Chicago. It serves Loyola University, Uptown, Wrigley Field, Magnificent Mile, Chinatown, and Guaranteed Rate Field. At the north end, the line connects with the Yellow and Purple lines to Skokie and Evanston, respectively. On the north side, the Red Line runs on elevated tracks first built in the 1890s. It travels through the Chicago Loop in a subway under State Street, connecting to lines on the elevated loop tracks and the Blue Line to O'Hare Airport in a parallel subway. On the south side, the line runs in the median of I-90/I-94 Dan Ryan Expressway to 95th Street.

The Red Line runs every 2-7 minutes on weekdays between 5:30am to midnight and every 15 minutes during overnight hours, and every 6-10 minutes on weekends.
